Pros:
Great design, well made crib
Cons:
Bottoms of drawers are a little flimsy
|
|
We got the convertible crib, changing table, and 5 drawer chest in the Infinity line from USA Baby in the spring 2005. The crib was on sale for less than $300. I don't recall what the other pieces cost as they were technically gifts. We did a lot of shopping and research before we settled on the Baby's Dream line. My mom's gift was to be the crib and she didn't want to spend a lot of money, so we started with the cribs at Babies R Us. But then I found that the Baby's Dream Infinity crib could be had for roughly the same price as those at Babies R Us, and I'm glad we picked them! The pieces are classically designed and well-constructed. I love that our daughter's crib will be the only bed we will ever need to buy for her, as it converts to a toddler and then a full-sized bed. It's also very sturdy (no moving parts since it's a stationary side crib). The matching case pieces are nice in that they go well with the crib. I love the Rumble-Tuff style changing table - everything I need for a diaper change is right there on the top, but she can use it as a dresser when she gets older. The ONLY complaint I have is that the drawer bottoms seem a bit flimsy. I haven't had any issues with them, but if you pushed too hard on them, they probably would break.

Pros:
True Quality at Great Prices
Cons:
That all cribs won't fit all parents' needs
|
|
Just as a suggestion, If you have never looked at the Baby's Dream Furniture, you really should take a moment to do so. Their multiple lines are true quality and they have cribs that can convert all the way up to an adult bed. I love their cribs and matching case pieces. I just thought I'd mention it to you in case you wanted to look at their site: www.babysdream.com/. It's life time furniture and well worth the money. I'm so glad I purchased the pieces I did.As far as the problem with shorter parents, I recommend the Generation Next model. It's in the same family as Serenity (with the same exact sleigh design) but the only difference is it has a drop-gate which is helpful for shorter parents. It provides about 8 more inches to bend over and reach the baby.

Pros:
Sturdy construction, quality design and style
Cons:
The matching dresser is not as sturdy
|

We have the baby's dream omni, purchased for $350 from a local store here in Denver. We love love love this crib. Everyone who sees the crib compliments us on the crib as well, and is very surprised when we tell them how reasonably it is priced.I have always told my husband that I like "clean styles." I guess I rubbed off on him because when we went shopping, he was intent on finding a square and simple, but sturdy, crib. Sounds easy, but this turned out to be a tall order. We preferred stationary cribs to drop side or drop rail cribs, so maybe the straight square styles are more readily available in the other types of cribs? At any rate, we like a stationary crib because with no moving parts, we felt like it would last longer. And it just feels so much steadier -- you can shake it all day long and it doesn't even jiggle. So -- in our search for stationery cribs with a simple design, we were constantly finding curves, scrolls, or intricate detailing. My poor husband was just amazed at how difficult it was to find a basic clean looking crib. I mean, this is the new millennium, right? Finally, we came upon the Baby's Dream Omni crib. Beautiful!!! And it was more affordable than just about every other stationery crib that we looked at, to boot! The wood has a rich warm hue.We considered buying the matching dresser, but the drawers did not have dovetail joints, which was a deal breaker for us.Our baby is not yet sitting up so I can't comment on how well the crib does under the daily usage of a more mobile/active baby. We're feeling pretty confident on that front, though. For extra money (I believe $100) we can also buy the rails to turn this crib into a bed. It seems that most people do not use the bed option for their cribs. I can barely plan tomorrow, much less several years from now. When the time comes, if I think about it, I'll come back and update this review with that info.

Pros:
sturdy, looks great, reasonable price
Cons:
may be challenging for shorter parents
|
|
we bought the crib and a double dresser for around $800. we got it in the Honey (almost a natural pine finish) since our local store had it on stock. We really like the sturdiness of both pieces. Serenity crib does not have any moving parts - no drop gates or rails. It may be a challenge for a shorter parent to put their child down if they are asleep. The crib converts from a crib to a toddler bed without any extra parts. You do need to purchase the rails in order to convert it to a full size bed. We are very happy with our purchase.

Pros:
Beautiful, sturdy, and convienent.
Cons:
Heavy, and will need disasembled to fit it through doorway.
|
|
We love our Generation Next crib. It is in Cherry. We purchased it at a small mom and pop furniture store for $499. The Antique Black would have been $599. It was easy to assemble, and is very sturdy. However, it is large, make sure you intend to leave it where you set it up at. At first the Drop Bar thing was hard to click into place, but it just needed a few clicks, to loosen things up. The slats are wide and will not fit all crib connecting items, but it is well worth it. It conerts to a toddler then full size bed, and you can tell it will last a long time. The mattress has two settings which to some may seem to low, however, the gate makes it easy to get into no matter the height. Ok well hope this helps.
