Pros:
convenient, comfortable, sturdy, safe
Cons:
only 2 mattress levels, no place to attached a mobile

I bought a full sized co-sleeper when I was pregnant because I wanted to have my baby close to me but was nervous about having a newborn cosleeping with my hubby and I in our bed. It was one of the best decisions I could have possibly made. The cosleeper is well made, convenient, and very comfortable for my baby. I had a very difficult labor, and when I first came home from the hospital I could barely move. Having the cosleeper next to me made it much easier to take care of my baby. I could just roll over in bed to reach over and soothe her when she fussed, pull her into bed with me to nurse, and change her diaper quickly and easily. I love that the cosleeper is covered in fabric. Not only do I think that the fabric makes it look nicer, but I don't have to worry about whether my baby will get her leg (or some other body part) stuck between slats like I would with a crib. My little one also loves that the sides are fabric. She is now 9 months old, and we are using the cosleeper with the mattress in the lowest position. For some reason, she just loves squishing her face in the fabric and feeling the sides of the cosleeper. There are only two improvements that I can think of to make the cosleeper even better. First, because everything is fabric, there is no way to put a mobile on the cosleeper itself. We solved this pretty easily by attaching a mobile to a piece of furniture that we have next to the cosleeper. Second, there are only 2 mattress levels, the one towards the top and the one all the way on the bottom. A 3rd level between those two would be very helpful.I highly recommend the Arm's Reach Co-sleeper. It was worth every penny.

Pros:
Convenient
Cons:
not flush with bed
|
|
$129 at BabysRUs online (the cheapest I found). I love this item. It was inexpensive and will give us time to buy a crib. I had a C-section so I didn't want to have to get out of bed and walk to the baby's room every time I needed to nurse. My only complaint is that I thought the crib mattress would be flush with the bed (like the picture). But I guess, for safety reasons, you still have to reach down to pick up the baby. Other than that, it is great!

Pros:
looks great, solidly made, fits perfectly next to our bed
Cons:
our large baby has outgrown it at almost 5 months
|
|
We have the sleigh style arms reach co-sleeper in cherry. It is really well made and looks beautiful. When we ordered it, we paid about $300 and we received it unassembled. It arrived just a few days after ordering it, and when we opened it, we found that one piece of the wood had a natural defect in the grain of the wood which could possibly cause it to split. I called the company and they immediately overnighted a new piece to us. I had a c-section so this was perfect to put next to our bed. It is not very big, so it does not take up too much room in our small bedroom. I am disappointed that our baby has out grown it. At almost 5 months, she only has a few inches above her head and below her feet . I will miss this bed! I highly recommend it!

Pros:
can't think of anything
Cons:
difficulty to assemble, cheap-feeling, hard mattress
|
|
I received this item as a gift from family before the birth of my first child in 2004. I was so looking forward to being able to safely cosleep. I imagined gently placing my full and sleepy/ing child into the ARCS with ease. Fast forward to reality.
The ARCS is a bear to assemble. The old pack-n-play my mother had is SOOO much easier to use I wish I had gotten one of those instead.
I found it pointless to have the thing attached to my bed as I had to sit up and place my child in it and they would ALWAYS wake up. The mattress is much harder than the firmest crib mattress. I ended up using the ARCS as a stand-alone bassinet until I could get a crib. I wish I had just gotten a crib and a pack-n-play from the get go.
The sheets are HORRIBLE. They are rough and shrink badly. Also they are expensive for what you get.
For my second child, I used an Amby hammock for the first few months, the the ARCS as a crappy bassinet and I am in the process of getting another crib since my first child is still using the first one.All in all, my husband and I really hate the thing and wish we had never gotten it. (Ours is the original, full-sized one.)

I bought one of the wooden sleigh-bed co-sleepers in 2006. I was lucky enough to buy a "scratch and dent" model from the ArmsReach website for about $200 + shipping. Didn't get the color I wanted (cherry) but the natural wood color is fine. It was easy to assemble, no scratches or dents - it did have a couple of extra holes drilled in it underneath the mattress, which is why I guess it was discounted. Very solid - holds 500lbs according to the website. It has locking casters on all four wheels, I never locked them because it wasn't going anywhere! (It weighs 64 pounds) I also never hooked it to my bed, as others have said, you need to be able to push it away to get out of bed. I liked being able to reach over and pat the baby and reassure myself that he was breathing! ..without the dangers of co-sleeping in the bed. I had a c-section and I had difficulty lifting my 8 lb baby out of the co-sleeper, and often asked my husband to move him for me for nursing or cuddling. I like the rolling feature - I often move the crib from room to room for naptime, or just to get it out of my way. Looks great - solid hardwood construction. I couldn't find extra sheets in that size anywhere - happened across a spare on Ebay and bought that for $8 + shipping, ($15 each on Armsreach website). The sheets only come in white, the crib comes with one sheet and nice-looking white bumpers with yellow accent bows. The mattress is very very firm.
One side of the crib has a removable slat wall, there is a 3-4" lip around the mattress so I don't use the 4th wall much as my baby is still quite young and stays put.
Overall, I like the wooden bed very much, esp. the styling and quality.
