i don't put a hat on her inside anymore, but what about outside?

it is california and warm right now, but i know all the heat escapes from the head...and there is usually a little breeze.

what should i do?

If it's not cold, I wouldn't put a hat on her just to run to and from the car or into a store. But if taking walks around the neighborhood, I would start putting a sunhat on her.

Warmth is not the issue right now. You want to put a sunhat on her (big, floppy brim prefereably with a velcro strap under the chin) so she doesn't burn. What with the hole in the ozone layer and all, if she burns now she is at serious risk for future skin cancer. And you can't put sunscreen on her until she's at least 6 months old.

New studies show that it is perfectly safe to put sunscreen on babies under 6 months old. As for the hat, it never hurts to at least have one in the diaper bag in case the wind does pick up or you are in an air-conditioned room. Good luck!
