Well, we are returning the WMS shoes from Preschoolians. We purchased the brown zip ups. They are cute, but we have two problems.

The first problem is that her foot slips right out when she tries to get the shoes off. This may be because the shoe is still large on her. (Her feet are right at the line for a 20 on the measuring device, so we sized up to a 21 as the company suggests. She fit in the 21's according to the see through thingamabob) I was willing to live with the slippage on the premise that as she grows it will cease to be an issue.

The second problem, however, is a real problem: the zipper unzips when she crawls at the park. Since the main reason I need shoes is to protect her feet at the park, this won't do.

Robeez don't work because they leave a nasty mark around her chubby ankles.

Should I order a different style of preschoolians? I had emailed Jeff about what shoe to get for a babe who is still crawling and he suggested the zips on.

Anyone else have a crawler in Preschoolians?

I would stick with soft soled leather shoes, but go with Shoo Shoos since they are the widest of all of the brands and that might help the current issue you are having with her little red ankles. :)

Nolan wore Shoo Shoo's for crawling & Preschoolian's for pre-walk & walking. Nolan is a pretty big kid & has wide chunky feet, one reason I really like the Preschoolian's, now he has outgrown them. :(

I would agree to go with the Shoo Shoos. You might try one with velcro closure instead of all elastic. I got those because DH didn't like the red ankle marks on DS, and those did the trick. They are usually found in padded styles (have just a little thicker sole) but you might check out other styles for velcro clousres as well. Here is a link to the padded styles, most with velcro closure:

ETA: A couple of the sandal styles have velcro closure too (link below). If you look around the site there might be some more.

I'm so glad to read your review! I was about to order the blue car zip-up for my DS. My son has had the preschoolians white and primary velcro "watch me stand" shoes for over 5 months. We really like them, but I wish they had something cute on them like the shoes from robeez or jack and lilys. My son crawled without any problem in the velcro style. We accidently ordered one size too big for him and like I said, he has worn them for over 5 months. And they didn't slip off his foot when they were too big, but there was a lot of "wiggle room" in them.

My DD is still at that in between stage of crawling/beginning walking. When she was crawling more, the Preschoolian Mary Janes with the velcro closures worked well for us. You can adjust the fit a little with the velcro as well, so it won't leave a mark like the Robeez.

Hope that helps.
