View Full Version : What's the best way to shrink clothing (just a little)?

I have a cute Carter's A-line top that is too big for my DD. I got the 24 month size, even though 18 months probably would have been fine. I tried both on her, and the 18 mo. seemed to fit now. So, I went with the bigger one, thinking she could wear it all winter. Getting back to the store to exchange it would be a royal pain, so I'm just going to keep the one I have. It's 95% cotton and 5% spandex. It's the sleeves that are too long; the length will be fine with leggings, even if it does come down over her hips and part of her behind for now! The sleeves have elastic at the wrists, otherwise I would just roll them up. Would you suggest trying to shrink the top a little, and if so, what's the best way to go about that with washing/drying? I don't want to end up making it too small, and I know that Carter's does shrink some anyway. Thank you!
