I'm trying to focus less on DD's wardrobe and work on shaping MINE up. What is your favorite summer outfit? Hopefully we will all get some new and fun ideas!

My favorite for neat, unique, and fun clothes is Anthropologie. I have several tops for this summer from there that I put on every chance I get.

I love the Talbots five-pocket pencil skirt (I bought them in three colors) and I just realized that they went on sale today from $48 to $24. You can wear them with tees, button downs, cardigans, almost anything and still feel comfortable and put together.

I've actually done pretty well buying some nice stuff for myself this spring/summer that I really like. My absolute favorite is this top from J. Jill:

It's really flattering, kind of different, and goes well with a lot of things. And it's flattering. Did I mention flattering? :)

J. Jill here too. I wear this with linen capris.

I got a couple of Ann Taylor Loft shirts I really like, but can't find them on their website.

I am an I.N.C. girl (from Macy's). I got a bunch of new tanks and capris from there for my Birthday from DH. I also did a big order with the AT Loft codes (posted in the Bargains/codes forum) yesterday. I hope it's all cute, otherwise I can just return it to the store I guess!

Nothing new or fun from me. My favorite outfit is a black t-shirt made of light sweater material from Eddie Bauer and a pair of light khaki capris (dockers from Costco) with a pair of black Merrell slides. I did branch out and buy a light pink Eddie Bauer t-shirt this year that I like with a pair of black dockers capris from Costco. I also bought a black sleeveless V neck sweater from Eddie Bauer that I'm really liking. Yup, I'm in a rut. I do want to check out Talbots now though. $24 for a skirt? Sweet. I love skirts, but only have a couple I like these days.

J. Jill shopper here too. I bought a bunch of fun clothes there this year. OT kind of... I just received notice and a legal release form last week in the mail because I won a $500 shopping spree there. :) Yay! I was automatically entered when I bought some spring/summer clothes back in April. By the time I get the form notarized and send back, etc., I will be gearing up for a new fall wardrobe. Isn't that fun?

One more thing I wanted to add... we were in Eddie Bauer a few weeks ago to buy DH some work clothes (business casual) and I loved their women's clothing. I haven't shopped there for myself in eons, but I need to remember them next time I need some clothes. Conservative and stylish without being too old fashioned, KWIM? Plus, they are more sensitive (like J. Jill) to those of us who aren't a size 4 anymore. LOL

I got the Costco dockers too and LOVE 'em! They look cute with my J.Jill satin trimmed tees. Not too exciting, but nice and comfortable.

I also got a pair of Josef Seibel sandals (Misty in black), Born blue espidrilles, and a pair of Nike G sandals with a sneaker bottom. I'm such a soccer mom. :p

Another J Jill fan here. I love these shorts that I bought there - they don't look too special in the photo but I got the stretch denim version and they are the stretchiest lightweight denim I've ever tried. So comfy!

Slightly OT: my fun splurge for the summer are these shoes. I have really hard to fit feet but the material is so flexible it actually works. Have only had basic shoes for so long, it's nice to have a fun pair.

Helen, I'm placing an order with JJill and was looking at these shorts. How do they fit? Are they fuller cut (for those of us with hips!) or are they a straighter cut? I have the Perfect Petal Soft Pants in two colors and love them! I love the fit and would get the shorts if they fit the same!

Thanks for any input!

Heidi,

I have a pair of the petal soft shorts w/elastic waist (don't recall the exact name)...I just compared them and they are cut very similarly.

ETA: these are the ones...they are cut like these
http://www.windsorpeak.com/dc/user_files/27318.jpg

I have them in a size 10, if you want measurements, let me know.

Heidi,

Don't know if you've tried their stretch denim before but I usually get a size smaller in them than their regular pants.

Helen, I would love the measurements when you get a chance, if it's not too much trouble. The pants I bought are also 10's.

Thank you very much! :-)

Heidi,

Waist 32.5"
Hips ~41.5 or 42" (I measured at ~6" down from the waist)
Length 16"
Inseam 6"
Leg opening is 26"
Front rise 11"
Back rise 17.25" (doesn't seem like that big a difference when I wear them)

They are very stretchy so if you're between sizes, I'd size down.

Let me know if you need anything else,

Helen, thank you so much for taking the time to do such extensive measurements! I really appreciate it. I will measure my pants and see if the sizing is close and if so I think I will get them!

Quick question - are these the measurements for the first pair (the darker denim) or the second pair (the light blue)?

Thank you again!!! :-)

Heidi, happy to help. These are for the dark denim walkabout shorts in size 10. I have a size 12 in the other shorts and these actually feel looser.

Another J.Jill lover here! I'm about to place an order, but I bought these cropped pants at the store last weekend and I love them! They are lightweight and very soft and fit great. I bought them in both colors. They are the Perfect Petal Soft Pants.

I also bought these flip-flops from Ann Taylor Loft. They are great! I don't normally like things between my toes, but these are very soft and comfortable.

I've been trying to buy more things for me this summer, too! Normally the girls get all the clothes, it's been fun shopping for myself! :-)

Yet another J.Jill lover here! :) I have a ton of their clothes, and love everything I have ever bought. My favorite though...are the linen shorts w/ elastic in the waist. I have them in almost every color.

Renee,

I've been aquiring quite a few pieces from them lately. Love everything I've bought! Have stayed away from the linen though. How hard are they to care for? Do you have to iron?

Hi Helen,
I love linen, and that is mostly what I wear. I have found J.Jill's things easy to care for. I wash them, and put them in the dryer for a little while, then hang to dry. You could get by with not ironing, because you know how linen is...it wrinkles so easy anyway. I'm just anal about ironing. I iron everything...including my scrubs I wear to work. Sure wish I was more anal about my housework! :) You should try a pair of the shorts though...I really think you would like them.

Last year, I had several. This summer, I still have about 15 lbs to lose from my pregnancy and only have a few things that fit (all bought new in the past 6 weeks!). I am so happy to see lots of bright colors in women's clothing -- so much fun!

I have these in green
http://secure.www.oldnavy.com/assets/product/main/ona292179-01p1.jpg

and I pair them w/ a bright cobalt blue tee and a pair of Keens
http://www.zappos.com/images/094/7156094/827-124565-d.jpg

It's bright, comfortable and washable, so it's probably my favorite outfit for this summer (so far).

That's my favorite store! I'm waiting until I lose more post-partum weight, but I love their clothes. My first 2 week post-partum purchase was from there (slouchy pink lounge pants.

I'm 4 months PP and still have at least 15 lbs to lose, so I love this skirt from J. Crew. I have it in citrus green, and wish I could find it in brown too (sold out everywhere):

http://www.windsorpeak.com/dc/user_files/27467.jpg

Then I usually wear 1-2 fun colored tanks on top (these are also from J.Crew but I bought mine at Old Navy):

This is the BEST skirt!! I wore it all last summer post partum...had it in several colors...and I would wear it with a tank to hang out at the beach late day with the kids...and even paired it with a light sweater and wore it to my son's baptism..it is the perfect, dress up with slides and a sweater, dress down with a tank and flip flops kind of skirt!

I just got it at the outlet in navy for $22!!! you may want to call there for the brown, they actually had a lot of these skirts..

JCrew and Banana Republic are my favorite places to shop right now!

Does anyone know how that skirt looks on a person who is "hippy"?

Tell me this isn't the worst news ever (being dramatic of course).. I just found out this week that my scale is a good 5-7 pound off, and bot in the direction that would put a smile on my face. Here I am wondering why all my clothes are so tight when I am only slightly over my "normal" weight. Talk about denial. LOL So, my danger zone is more dangerous than ever. Ugh!
