I am having trouble figuring out what to get DD (14 months at that time) to wear to a mid-October wedding in Richmond, VA. It's an afternoon wedding, with reception afterwards, so not super fancy (I hope). Would a floral print smocked dress be acceptable? Long or short sleeves at that time of year?
Thanks for any insights. I'm not good at dressing myself for formal occasions, so no surprise that I'm having trouble with dressing DD.

We were in DC/VA last October for a wedding........
I remember it being chilly, I would go for the long sleeves. And I think a floral smocked would be very nice for dd.

I live just outside of the Richmond area, and October can be a weird month. I'd say that, on average, temps run in the upper 60s/lower 70s. (Oddly enough, I was just saying last week that Halloween is a bit of a crapshoot, as it's freezing and rainy just as often as it is 75-80 degrees.)
Anyway, I think a floral smocked dress would be perfectly acceptable, especially for an infant/toddler. I think I'd go with short sleeves, but have a light sweater available, just in case.

Virginia weather is really iffy that time of year. You could easily run into a v. hot or v. cold day. I think a floral smocked dress would be perfect. I would go with short sleeves and bring a cardigan and some tights just in case.

Thanks everyone. I was leaning toward short sleeves too, so thanks for confirming my hunch.
