Calling bishop dress lovers...

Where do you get the best price? I know they're easy to find in the South, but I live in Chicago so it would have to be online or mail order.

Any suggestions? DD is attending a wedding in NC in October and I think a bishop would be perfect, but DH will KILL me if I buy any of the ones I've seen at full price ;)

Thanks for the response and the brand names. I had heard of Vive La Fete and Orient Expressed, but not the others. They seem to go for a lot of $$ even on eBay, so I wasn't sure if there might be some secret stash somewhere hidden from Midwesterners ;) Maybe I'll try to twist DH's arm when we're in NC in a couple of weeks.

when and where are you going to be in NC in a few weeks? there is a consignment sale in raleigh called "divine consign." www.divineconsignshow.com

it is sept 6-8 in raleigh, but there are also shows in charlotte and atlanta.

if you were in the triangle, it might be worth going.

or if you want to give me some specifics, i really would get one for you. i am definitely going to look for my kids and i may try to volunteer or something so i can shop early! the dresses there are around $20-30 maybe? and they have a half off day, too.

I got one for DD, and the matching jon jon for DS. (Well, I ORDERED them - I haven't GOTTEN them yet.) I think 42 bucks is a GREAT price for a bishop!

I'm right down the road from Lizajane (In Fayetteville, NC) and I often find bishops at consignment shops, etc. Let me know if there's anything I can keep an eye out for. I'm shopping Divine Consign on the first night (I'm a SICK woman!) and I love a mission! :)

I found a bishop at the Salvation Army in Chicago for $2.50. Orient Expressed. :) Check out secondhand/thrift stores.

I would LOVE to stumble upon such a treasure at a thrift! When DS was little, I would hit the thrifts all the time. Now going into a thrift with the kids is just too much for my sanity. But once preschool starts up, LOOK OUT! :)

Sorry for the delay in responding - the storms we have been having have been messing with my internet connection... grrrr.

I actually arrive at RDU on the 8th, so I may twist DH's arm and go to Divine Consign! Thank you so much for the tip, and the offer to look for something. That is so sweet :) Do you think there will be anything left on the 8th?
