I've read and the LC's all say not to sleep in a bra. I've been leaking lately, and although I know it's a transient thing for maybe the next month (or at least that's what I've been told), I really HATE the mess. I'm sleeping on a towel, but it's almost not enough and I'm hot from the terrycloth. So much for 300 count sheets! I'd be interested in what any of you have done, and if you do sleep in a bra, which one? I can't sleep in my Bravados, they're too much, and I bought an Elite Crossover, but with my DD size, it's not keeping the nursing pads in place. Sigh.

Have you considered sleeping in a tank top with a built in shelf bra. The bra wouldn't be for support, just a bit of help keeping the nursing pads from migrating. I also used medical tape (opaque stuff that is easy to tear) to hold nursing pads in place when I wore a dress that made wearing a bra impossible! LOL! Try not to sleep on your stomach because it'll put pressure on your boobs and cause you to leak. Elevate your head and torso a bit so that flipping over on your stomach is uncomfortable. The leaking will slow down soon as your body adjusts to the amount of milk needed. HTH!

I slept in the maternity stretch camisoles from old navy: http://www.oldnavy.com/asp/Product.asp?wdid=80335&wpid=134384

I'm a 38D and used a large.

They have a non-maternity style too. I just ordered a few because I loved sleeping in the maternity ones; I still sleep in them!

I liked Avent pad, they have a little bit of adhesive. In a pinch, use a femine hygene pad (non-deoderant). They don't go anywhere.

Hope that helps.

I have been sleeping in my nursing bras ever since I came home from the hospital and I still use breast pads every night. I find my Mimi bra the most comfortable to sleep in but I manage in the other ones. When I'm done nursing, it sure will be nice to sleep bra-less again.

DD wakes up some nights to nurse & not others, making my supply go up & down, which is why I still need to wear pads.

I sleep in either spaghetti tanks with shelf bras. Great for holding washable nursing pads in place or these fancee sleep bras. They are so comfortable. They are gentle and supportive enough. I bought mine at the hospital, but they sell them at the www.breakoutbras.com site below:

I'll admit it--- I slept in my underwire nursing bras with piles of breastpads or even washcloths stuffed inside. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do and it's hard to sleep in a LAKE!

I've stopped leaking, but I had been using a Medela bra and Lansinoh breast pads at night when I was leaking.

I didn't know you weren't supposed to sleep in a bra! I wore one for months after dd was born. It wasn't a really supportive one but I couldn't bear all the leakage and used a couple of pads and it didn't affect supply or anything. I've stopped leaking now and that was an exciting night the night I went to bed braless!

I had some very comfy sleep bras that I loved. In fact, I started wearing them all the time instead of my nursing bras. I got them at iMaternity, which is now Motherhood. I think they still carry a similar product. (Very cheap, too!)

It is not a problem to sleep with a bra on - it is just preferable if you wear a non-underwire bra (and would be more comfortable I am sure!). I leaked the entire time I breastfed (6 months), and there is no way I would go without a bra at night (too uncomfortable letting those huge breasts waddle around all night!).

I would suggest the Care Wear sleep bra, or Japanese Weekend bras (they offer light support). Here are some links:

Good luck! Hope the leaking ends soon!

Thanks to everyone! I've decided to try, because I saw them yesterday and they are so cheap, some spaghetti tanks from Target. They have shelf bras in them and matching shorts--95% cotton, 5% spandex and come in lots of colors. The tanks are $8! If they don't work out well enough, I'll go for the sleep bras. My DH is already smiling, they're a lot sexier than what I have been wearing to bed--his big T-shirts!
