The age range says 1-4 years, but I'm wondering how long you think the swing part would really be practical. Our backyard is fenced off to keep Abigail away from the pool, and there really isn't space inside the fence for a big swingset. If this would be reasonable for a while, though, I'd get it.

I think Abigail has probably already outgrown it. My friend had the predecessor model of this (without the castle theme) and was very disappointed in it. She found that it was only usuable for 1 summer. Last year, when her DS was 2, she bought a big swing set because his feet touched the ground in this little swing and he wasn't interested in the little slide anymore.

I'm not sure but Tom has already lost interest in toddler swings. He'd rather sit on my lap and swing in a big-kid swing.

I heard something similar from a friend - that even though this is ages 1-4, it is really too small for all but a one year old.

I agree. I think Abby is already too old for it.

Okay, thanks. We'll just do one of the slide / playhouse things for now. The big part of our yard that would hold a nicer play structure is the part with the pool, and we can't fence it. So this is more of a courtyard item. :)

Ainsleigh swings in a regular swing and pumps her legs herself, so this would be tres passe :). I'd go for a slide, though, since anytime I'm sitting down, she has to "slide" down my legs. Even the shortest slide would thrill her. Good luck!

I think Little Tikes makes a slide by itself for around $35.

My best friend got that exact same set for her kids last summer. They were 13-months and 29-months at the time and they played with a lot, but they moved to a new house in November and I've never seen it at their new one, or seen her kids playing with it (they're now 22-months and just over 3), so my guess is that Abigail will quickly outgrow it.
