We are taking a long car trip next week and I need to keep D entertained. Today was the first day he enjoyed scribbling with colors so I was thinking a manga doodle my occupy him for awhile on the trip. Should I get the large one or smaller travel size? Tia!

I like the large size since at this age they aren't that skilled at "drawing" yet and needs lots of room to scribble. My DD also liked taking the shaped magents in and out of their drawer and plays with it almost as a puzzle (I don't think the small one has this feature).
Have a great trip!

We have both. I like the large one for the car and the travel size for the diaper bag.

I recently bought the small sized "Doodle Pro" (I think the name has been changed, the shelf still said Magna Doodle). DS really likes it. I want it for travel so I think it is a good size. Also, I was afraid to buy the large one becuase the cord seems so long on the pen and I am afraid he will wrap it around his neck (they do say age 3 and up and I think that might be one of the reasons why). Has anyone with the large one experienced any problems with the cord being so long? Or am I just being paranoid?

We haven't had a problem with the cord. I assumed the 3+ was due to the stamps included with the larger model. I removed the stamps. I suppose that you are right that the cord is long enough to go around a child's neck, but I have never observed DS even attempting this.
