With just a few weeks to go, I'm all geared up for XMAS except what to get my DH. Any suggestions?

for fathers day, I got my DH the XM Satelite radio that can be installed in the truck. I like it, because he can move it between his truck or the tracktor, or my van, whatever.. for his birthday, I got him the boombox type radio that the faceplate goes in so he can listen to it around the house. I just saw that they have lowered the price of them at wallmart. He LOVES it. Now, I am strugling with what to get him for christmas. I have bought him a few sweaters which he really needs, but now I just have to think of something cool....I will have to check this post later to see what suggestions you get!

A dvd box set and a really nice shaving kit. I don't know who sells them besides the PX (military store) but I think JcPenny's does too. It all came in a leather zip shut bag with various NFL team logos on it.

UGH. DH's birthday is December 26th, so I always have to come up with a lot of stuff all at once!

He wants a bunch of dvds, so that is primarily what he will get. He could also use some sweaters and "business casual" shirts for work, but he hates getting clothes! There is a brewery nearby that can make a custom beer, so I will also visit them. Not sure if I will pick out a brew, or just get him a gift certificate. There's always sports memorbilia - we have plenty to choose from this year as Patriots and Red Sox fans. Hard to believe that both our teams are world champions!!

Probably a new cell phone. His current one is really old!

I'm probably just getting my DH some clothes and a new bible (old one is very used). I'd like to also get him some seat covers for his truck, but the cost is crazy high. Oh, and I'm getting him some fish and plants for his nice aquarium... but he gets to pick them out.

My DH's b-day is Dec 24th, so I know your pain! This year he's making it easy, though, he wants a bicycle, so that takes up both holidays.

Not too exciting, but we are giving each other our new garage door this year! I'm sure I'll get him a CD or some other small "fun" present, also.

I was thinking about getting him the Sirus satellite radio system but he said to hold off on that. He told me he wants the wireless internet adaptor and game control for his PS2. I will also get him a few small cool gifts....like a remote control car from DS and a cool book from me.

Got DH a TIVO DVD player for Fathers Day (well, our old DVD player broke and this one had free basic TIVO included for about $100 more than a regular DVD player. We BOTH LOVE IT!! Worth every extra penny. And he figured out how to record something and watch something else at the same time (Best Buy "expert" employee didn't know you could do that). For Christmas, he is just getting chocolate this year (his favorite thing of all time) and maybe a few shirts, since I try to buy him other things and he doesn't care for them. So I'll just let him buy car parts through the year and he'll be happy. :) Can't wait to see other suggestions! :)

I am pretty sure that dh is getting a MP3 player and a messenger bag to replace his backpack. But I don't want to do the research! I would much rather revise and revise again dc's lists!

DH's big present is a high definition receiver with TIVO.

He's also getting a couple DVDS, a book and a video game.

So far DH is getting two gifts from me: one for just him (a video game) and one for him and DS (the "Country Family Band" set from Restoration Hardware -- has a mini banjo, harmonica, triangle, washboard, etc.). DH has this fascination with these electronic "Dueling Banjos" teddy bears, but the idea of hearing that song over and over again at all hours fills me with fear. I'm hoping that this gift set will satisfy his need for banjos, plus give him something to do with DS.

I'd love to get him something more personal, but I'm still at a loss for what that might be.

We used to go through the motions of saying we weren't going to buy a lot, and then would spend a couple hundred, unnecessarily, on each other. So we finally gave up the ruse and decided to really get our family something nice that we might have otherwise gotten, but can better justify at the holidays, and then have an excuse for not buying other stuff. Make sense? The gift may cost more, but in the end, we'd buy it, so we just call it our gift.

Last Christmas it was a digital camera. For our anniversary a couple years ago, it was a couch. This year it will be a new computer (Mac G5)! We are pretty darned excited!

However, when I was buying real gifts, I would often get things like clothes, CD's, Christmas ornaments, socks, watch, leather folder for work. I will still probably order a calendar of DS from Shutterfly for DH's office. He loved the one I gave him last year!

I always end up getting DH some DVDs and a computer game. Guess what he's getting this year? :)

The whole family (including DH) is also getting Hanna pjs from 'Santa'.

Also, he never buys clothes for himself so often I will surf LE Overstocks and see if I can pick up something nice. If he doesn't like it I return it to Sears.

For his stocking there is an assortment of his favourite candy (praline pecans, peppermint bark, red bird peppermint sticks. etc.).

One place I stumbled across one year was www.officeplayground.com. It really has some fun joke gifts!

But here is my technique for figuring out what kind of gift to get. I picture the family member in our house. I go through every room and ask myself what they like to do there. Then I try to think if there is anything related to these activities that needs replacing or could enhance their enjoyment. It's amazing how many good ideas can come out of this!

Nothing exciting here. Just got DH some clothes that he needs.
