My dd will be 3 in april. My mom wants to buy her a trike. I want her to get one that Lorelai will be able to easily learn to pedal.
Lorelai is petite she is was 27 lbs at her last dr visit. She has a long torso but short legs.

What trike do you rec?

DD started using a little bicycle with training wheels at that age. Others will probably be able to tell you about trikes but I don't know how much use she'd get out of it at 3.

I don't think it is a waste at 3. My friend's DD turned 3 in Jan and just started pedalling her trike this month. My DS was 2.5 when he started to pedal. As far as brands, we don't have anything fancy. We have the Radio Flyer foldable trike that he races around in the house. He likes the storage compartment in the back and I like that it is small so he can ride it around the house without banging into things. For outside we have a Schwinn trike that is much wider and bigger, but is great because of the air filled tires. It rolls smoothly over uneven ground.

Most people on here like Kettler. You could probably get a lot of info on them if you do a search. Let me know if you need any further info on either of the brands that we have.

We got this bike at Academy when Madeline turned 2.

http://academy.com/index.php?page=content&target=products/sports/bikes/girls_bikes&start=0&selectedSKU=0437-01232-2212

It is a 12 inch bike, that does not have brakes so it is easy to learn to pedal it, very much like a trike. It is super cheap, $24, now that Madeline is 4 she has a 16 inch bike and a neighbor is borrowing the bike for her 2 1/2 year old. Honestly once Madeline saw the bike she never got on her trike again. It also might have to do with the fact that most of our neighbors kids had bikes so she never really loved her trike that much to begin with.

We had a Kettler, but my DD never really learned how to pedal it very well. When she turned 3, her grandparents gave her a small bike with training wheels, and she learned really fast on it. I'm not sure if it was the age or the bike vs. trike, but I wanted to give you my 2 cents. There are lots of bicycles that are small enough for a small 3 year old.

If you want a quality trike that you can pass on to your little one I would highly suggest a Kettler! We have a Jumbo without the air tires and it looks brand new. https://www.travelingtikes.com/cgi-local/SoftCart.exe/online-store/scstore/?E+scstore

We got it when #1 was 2.5 maybe and now his little brother is learning how to ride it! You can also get a parents push bar so you can help her get going... once she figures out peddling she will be off and running! Both our boys love the trike!

Good Luck
