I'm looking for a magnetic board about 36" square for artwork. Pottery Barn has one but it's $$$ and also a chalkboard - I don't want DS to draw on the walls. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

I called a metal fabricator and had a piece of sheet metal cut to my exact specifications. My sheet is 36"x70" and cost $15. I then bought inexpensive trim from Lowes and framed it out on the wall. (I also painted ours with chalkboard paint, but you wouldn't have to.) It was an easy and low cost project and you get the exact size you need.

Does it have to 36" square? I found a 24 x36 inch piece of sheet metal at home depot and then went to a craft store (Michael's) and picked up a poster frame. We used chalkboard paint as well, but without the paint, the project would probably be under $20.

THANKS! What a great suggestion. I never though to use sheet metal and frame it. Much, much cheaper than the pottery barn option.
Was it difficult to frame with trim - just in case I can't find a frame to fit.
I knew someone here would have a better option.

No. It was easy. My piece was really large and heavy, so I screwed it directly to the wall first. I then cut the trim and nailed it around. I'd post a picture, but I can't seem to figure out how to do that anymore. The "click for attachments" is gone.

Thanks Barb for this idea. I really think I can do this - by myself, without help. Wow - what a cheaper option. PB is $120 for something similiar. I could make 5 or so for that price!
I think now you have to upload photos to photobucket or similiar service and then add the URL to the message.
