My 2 month old son will probbaly be outgrowing his Snugride within the next two months. He is already 24" and 14 lbs. I want a good, safe convertible seat, but cannot afford the Britax RA. Any other suggestions? Also, what happens if your baby outgrows the rear facing weight limit on a convertible seat, but they are not yet 1 year old? (They have to be 20lbs. AND 1 year old here in VA. to be forward facing).
TIA,

As long as the seat has a rear facing limit of 30 pounds it is unlikely they will max out the RF weight limit. When they are little, it seems like they grow so fast. But when they hit 6 months or so, their growth rate really does slow down tremendously.

Toby, what an awesome website!!! I never knew it was your website, with so much great info. I always saw the link and figured it was the nasda (?)website, and so I've never checked it out. However, it answered my questions very well. I think I'll probably go with the Evenflo Triumph.

Glad you found my site helpful. The database is mine, not nhtsa's or any other government agencies. It is a direct result of the internet: the way that it lets parents and advocates band together around the country and world to make a big difference. The rest of the site is just mine, and I'm glad you found the info you needed!

I read a review somewhere that the Triumph's seat cover can't be removed. Do you know if this is true? I too am looking for a more affordable seat, and the Triumph seems pretty well reviewed except for the non-removable seat. I think that would definitely turn me off from it to avoid sour milk and other smells/stains. Thanks for any insight...
