We are buying a new car for my husband. We would like it to be able to fit 3 seats across. My daughter is in a booster, and my older son could sit in one for trips in that car. We want to stay with a mid-size SUV or even smaller if there is a choice. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Mid to full sized sedans are great for three across (impala, taurus) and the CR-V and Vue are pretty roomy. It's actually much easier to fit and buckle harnessed seats across, rather than boosters (reaching under armrests and the seat next to it can be real knuckle-busters!).
I think www.edmunds.com has rear hip room measurments? and www.carseatdata.org has lots of seat width measurements (but I probably know more off the top of my head, lol), and it can be more about fitting seats together as puzzle pieces (a friend of mine has a Husky next to a Marathon next to a Touriva in her 1995 Subaru!), so you don't have to be completely limited in your car choice...though the CR-V isn't a bad choice ;)
