I'm confused. I tried reading all the posts on the apex 65. I'm not sure what you mean about the headrest and it being against the car/van. We're installing ours int he middle of a 2000 camry (DH's car). what should we look out for? TIA for all your help. :)

There is a picture in the manual somewhere, but think about it this way:

Put the seat in the car and sit your child on the seat. Now, imagine that there is no back on the Apex. Would the tops of your child's ears be above the top of the Camry's headrest (or seatback if there is not a headrest)? If the ears are above, you cannot use this seat.

Someone has said the manual is not clear that this applies to both booster and harness mode, so I would call Cosco to confirm before using it, but that is the basic idea.

Do a search for posts by Nisi, she posted a link to a scan of the manual page addressing the issue.

Just found it in my History folder

It does look like its in the BPB section, I wonder what they say about when its harnessed? Hmmm....

I wanted this seat for my DD in DH's truck. I sat her on the backseat and the top of the truck's seatback was only 3-4" above the midpoint of her head. Given that the seat will raise her up that much, the seat will not work for us. (Not to mention she'd have no room to grow even if it did work for a little while.)

(edited to fix link)
