Snugride vs safeseat? What's the difference?

I registered for the snugride but now I have been seeing the safeseat around alot too. Does anyone know the difference? Will the safeseat fit into snugride compatible strollers? thanks!

yes, it will... and it goes to 30lbs instead of 20-22... it's not that much more... I'd change it.

The Safeseat infant seat is similar to the Snugride but it's bigger, has EPS foam and a built-in lockoff in the base for easier seatbelt installations. The pricier versions of the Safeseat also have the Gracopedic foam in them. The Safeseat is a bit heavier and bulkier than the Snugride but it has the higher 30 lb. weight limit and 32" height limit that means you'll get longer usage out of it than a Snugride. The height limit truly depends on the baby's torso length. My DD is long torsoed and 29/30 inches tall, and she will outgrow it by height soon. It's outgrown by height when there is less than 1 inch of seat shell above the baby's head. As the PP said, it fits the strollers that the Snugride fits and I'd switch your registry. Graco says it will fit any Graco stroller that has a tray.

Yes, I had the same question too - I just picked up the Snugride but also saw the safeseat at BRUS. I have the opposite problem, where my firstborn was a tiny one, DS is still 21.5 pounds and 31.5 inches at 21 months Does anyone know how much heavier the Safeseat is, and is it still as highly rated as the Snugride? (It wasn't listed in the BB book this year).

The Safeseat infant seat weights about 9 lbs. and I believe this is slightly heavier than the Snugride but I don't know the Snugride's exact weight. As for ratings, it's fairly new and came out late last year so it hasn't been rated by the BB authors yet apparently. There are a number of recent threads on the board here regarding it and most comments have been favorable, mine included. Hope this helps some.

I also have the same question. My husband and I are planning to buy a Bugaboo stroller but are wondering if the Graco attachment fits the Safeseat or just the Snugride.

Hi - I contacted Bugaboo about it and no, it doesn't fit. The adapters only work with the 2005 models of Graco and Peg.

We did get the Safeseat and it does fit the Bugaboo. Love them both!
