what do you do to keep your car seat cool?

i'm wondering what other people who live in hot climates do in the summer when you need to put dc in their seat. if i'm at home, i usually turn the a/c on about 10 min before we need to leave the house, but it's really a problem when we're out and i have to put dd in a hot car. it seems like her car seat just absorbs the heat and doesn't cool down easily and i feel bad that she has to sit in this big hot seat.

throw a towel or blanket over it when we get out of the car - makes a big difference!
