OK, we just sold our old car, and I just realized that I left that tether thing tied to the back seat of our car, so now our Marathon can't be tethered when it's RF - so, here's my new question - is it safer to put our Marathon RF without the tether or FF, and I can anchor it in with the anchors they provide behind the seat?

REAR FACING!!!

You can order another D-Ring from Britax fairly cheap. But even if you don't, it is still WAY better to have it RF with or without tether than FF in any way.

Definitely rear facing. That Britaxes can be tethered RF is icing, most brands do not.

Tethering when FF is a big benefit over not tethering FF, but rear is always best.

What kind of car did you get? I found a spot in my car where I don't need the d-ring thing. Its the metal part that's bolted to the floor for the front passenger seat belt. I just scoot the seat belt over a bit and its perfect! Not all cars have it handy, but some do! (Audi A6).

But, do call Britax and get a new one if needed. Shouldn't cost much.

Here's a site that might give you some ideas.
