I was just reading the super long shopping cart use vs non use post and thinking "Well maybe I am missing something?" but what do you do after a shopping trip with it. Do you wash them every time? Do you have more than one, so one is always clean? Do they fold so the dirty part doesn't touch the clean part?
I'm not a total germaphobe- I think kids immune systems are meant to be built up by childhood illnesses! That said, I never use the public changing tables anymore if at all avoidable, especially not with my changing pad because I read that it actually spreads the germs onto your changing pad which then gets folded up and put into your diaper bag, thereby spreading the germs in there. If I have to change in one of the public spots I layer paper towels or toilet seat covers instead, or use disposable changing pads. And now that I think about it, I have been putting the baby in a stroller for shopping outings and dragging the cart behind since he is a gnawer. I guess I was thinking with a chewer like mine maybe I should start using one (although at 17 months it might be too late for #2 anyway?!).
