View Full Version : Dumb shopping cart question...

I was just reading the super long shopping cart use vs non use post and thinking "Well maybe I am missing something?" but what do you do after a shopping trip with it. Do you wash them every time? Do you have more than one, so one is always clean? Do they fold so the dirty part doesn't touch the clean part?

I'm not a total germaphobe- I think kids immune systems are meant to be built up by childhood illnesses! That said, I never use the public changing tables anymore if at all avoidable, especially not with my changing pad because I read that it actually spreads the germs onto your changing pad which then gets folded up and put into your diaper bag, thereby spreading the germs in there. If I have to change in one of the public spots I layer paper towels or toilet seat covers instead, or use disposable changing pads. And now that I think about it, I have been putting the baby in a stroller for shopping outings and dragging the cart behind since he is a gnawer. I guess I was thinking with a chewer like mine maybe I should start using one (although at 17 months it might be too late for #2 anyway?!).

i'm not a germophobe either. i do not wash mine after every use (thank you reminding me to wash it!)

i mainly use it so ds doesn't bite the handle of the cart. that is just gross.
i have the 'cleanshopper' (got as a gift) it's basic but does the job :)

I have a Buggy Bagg and it folds so that the dirty part doesn't touch the clean part.

I have the Buggy Bagg also and love it. I'm not a total germaphobe, and love mine as much for the added cushion and comfort it provides as I do for the germ protection. I don't wash it after every use. As mentioned, the parts that come in contact with the shopping cart actually fold up and don't come in contact with the baby.

I love mine and would consider it one of my top 2 favorite baby products.

I WOULD consider myself a germaphobe....I have the floppy seat and when you pull it off after use, the part that touched the cart basically does not touch the part your babe sits in :) Of course, I also make SURE it doesn't by the way I take it off and put it in my car - but it is easy. I wash it after every couple of uses and that is easy too.

I agree, it's on my top 5 list of baby must-haves!
