This is my 4th baby, so I'll be on the go alot. Next closest kid in age will be 23 months. Plan to get a MBDU as my double.

Thanks

Kristin,
I think you'll be surprise how much more comfortable an unpadded sling (i.e. Zolo, Kangaroo Korner) is compared to a bjorn. I used my bjorn w/my first two on a very limited basis b/c it downright hurt!
My third is 23 months apart from her big brother and I'm thoroughly enjoying my Zolo cotton which I use shopping, playground, etc. and my KK adj. cotton pouch which I use when I need to get her in a pinch - when she's grouchy, around the house, etc.

If you run a search on "slings", you'll find lots more info & opinions.

I think a sling would be VERY useful! Not only could you use it immediately with the newborn, you could also use it with your 23 month child for hip carry! I put my 20 month nephew who has never been in a sling before in the KK fleece pouch recently, and he didn't fuss one bit. The Bjorn still will be handy (especially if your DH is like mine and refuses to wear a sling!) because both parents can then do carrying duty at the same time if needed.

I never found the Bjorn to be comfortable either, never could figure out why it is so highly recommended (I have heard the same from soooo many other moms, lol). With #1 I used and OTSBH and was very happy with it! With #2 I used a Baby Trekker and OTSBH, and as he has gotten older a Hip Hammock and now a Zolo.

I personally like a padded sling and having a hard time getting used to an unpadded sling. And I really like the Baby Trekker, it is super, super comfy! But I would be totally lost without a sling hanging around for use with my newborn-2.5ish year old.

Thanks for all the info, but what is OTSBH?

Thank you all for the info and opinions!! I will start researching the slings and come back to you knowledgeable folks with more questions!! Just from the responses here, it looks like there are a lot of them to choose from (and so will be very confusing I am sure!).

Thanks again

OTSBH = "over the shoulder baby holder" brand name sling

Check out www.kangarookorner.com - she has a great site with lots of baby carrier info and reviews.
