View Full Version : Combi Soho -- either it stinks or I've been spoiled by my Zippy!

Hey everyone. I just got back from a quick weekend trip to visit the ILs. I love my Zippy but I wanted a stroller that was lighter, a bit smaller (since several of us were sharing a rental car), and one I wouldn't be terribly upset about if it were damaged or lost on the plane.

The only way DH would let me get another stroller is if I bought it with BRU store credit. So my choices were the Combi Soho, Chicco London (too heavy) Maclaren Volo (I really liked it but too slouchy for DS), Chicco Caddy (didn't look well made) and the $19.99 umbrella the sales guy earnestly tried to talk me into. Based on reviews and feedback, I went with the Combi Soho.

Well let me just say that I am going to see if I can return the darn thing tomorrow. Steering was AWFUL! It constantly pulled in one direction, and was hard to push. Impossible to push with one hand. Folding wasn't too bad, but definitely a two-handed, involved operation. Recline was minimal, probably standard for a stroller like this. DS did not look very comfortable in it, fussed when we put him in, and would not sleep in it (and he'll sleep anywhere!). The buckle was difficult to snap together at times, and always difficult to unsnap (Both sides would not unsnap at once and it required two hands). The stitching was uneven in places and fabric edges were ragged and unfinished-- overall the thing just seemed poorly made.

I will say that it was extremely light, the carrying strap was nice, and I liked the color. But those plusses didn't compensate for the other issues.

Did I miss something? Are all umbrella strollers like this? Am I forever spoiled by my Zippy?

Think the next one will be an Inglesina Swift!

Bethany,
Sorry your new stroller sounds like a bum deal. Hopefully you'll be able to return it or resell it at the very least. I just wanted to say, I'm waiting on my 04 zippy for my DS due in February, so I was glad to see that you love yours! I have read mixed reviews of one-handed steering w/ the zippy. From what I can tell it probably won't steer one handed, but I was wondering what your experience was w/ the zippy.

Hope you find a nice deal on an Inglesina Swift:)

FWIW, my assessment of it is similar to your experience.
