View Full Version : Gotta love an Emmaljunga on a snowy day!

It started the other day when I was complaining to a stroller friend (who lives in a beautiful, warm climate) how miserable I was in the house with all the snow outside. DD wanted to go out, but I wasn't sure how to take the baby out in it. He isn't overly fond of the white stuff once he gets in it. My friend made the suggestion of taking him out in an Emma, since that is the type of thing they are made for. I chuckled and moved on rather quickly.
Day 2 comes, we spend the day in the house, with the exception of DD. She heads out with a friend's family to go sledding. Coming home bubbly and amazed at how much fun she had, I was deeply saddened. My baby's first sledding experience, and it wasn't with me! I got over it quickly as I listened to her excited and continuous chatter about the sledding and the possibility of yet another day off from school.

Day 3 and yes we are home from school again. It might be a long day, but I have convinced myself to get out. It means cleaning off the car, and bundling the baby. DD is again asked to go sledding but I have the forethought to snap a photo of her with her sled before she runs off. I do what I need to in order to head out. I clean the car. Bundle the baby. Load the trash into the van (we have no pick-up, have to haul it to the dump ourselves). And yes, load up my thrift store Emmaljunga Emma-lite that has been waiting patiently in the garage for summer to arrive so she can head to the cottage and get used.

When I arrive, I yank open the Emma. Carefully put the Company Store stroller snug on. I get ds out of the car. He happily is watching the kids atop the hill getting ready to fly down at frightening speeds. He matches me well, he in his red stroller cozy, me in my red coat. We head into the snow and slush at the side of the road hoping to clear it all. Amazingly we do! Not even the slightest hesitation! Plowed through the snow and up the hill! Over ice, rocks, snow and slush like it was air. With lots of mommies watching carefully, totally amazed, lol. And he and I did sled down the hill once, incredibly slowly, yet still way to fast for him. He was quite happy to get back in his "ride" after that.

So StrollerQueen, I have an answer for you about what folks do to get around with their babies in the snow. They pull out their Emmas after their good friend's suggestions! ;-)

Ah yes, the Emma! I've been using ours all winter going back and forth from the bus stop. It plows through slush, fresh snow, packed down frozen snow, all w/ no problems! Baby wears his bunting, is placed inside a Bundle Me, snap the boot cover on and pull down the rain cover to keep out the wind and blowing snow. No complaints from the baby!

Yes, gotta love the Emmas. My viking is my winter outdoor workhorse. Glad to hear you got outside :) We're going a little stir crazy here as well.
