You all are SO funny that you want to know the outcome of the mercy killing of Combi, the worthless stroller.

With the stroller’s blood still fresh on my car’s tires, my husband came home from a stressful day at work. I had wanted to wait until after dinner to break the news to him, but I blurted out, “the stroller broke today!” (I was very careful to not lie to him… it was indeed broken, but I didn’t say how it happened… LOL) He responded, “Oh, wow! I can’t believe it!” I got a little scared, did a neighbor see what I did? Did he suspect this was a deliberate act? Then he continued, “The copier at work broke today, the lightswitch in our closet broke today, one of the company trucks broke down today… and now the stroller! What a day! Well, I guess you’ll have to get a new one.” He really is a wonderful hubby :), but needed a big prompt like this to agree to a new stroller. The Combi was in such bad shape, even before the final blow, I actually did need a new one.
So I spent the next two days- about 10 hours- reading and researching the stroller options on this board. I was very stressed out to make the right decision. You all are VERY passionate about your strollers! :) On Friday, I headed out with great excitement to test drive the strollers. For various reasons, I eliminated dozens of your favorite strollers… most problems being difficult harness buckles, difficult stroller closure or lock, or difficulty opening the lock or stroller. Hey, I already had all that in the Combi! I really wanted to check out the new Silver Cross models, and just for kicks the E3 and MBUS-- but I couldn’t find them here locally and just couldn’t buy a stroller sight unseen- plus I need one immediately. So, the final two strollers ended up being the Maclaren Techno Classic and the Peg Perego P3…. and the winner was the Mac! I really liked the P3, but the squeeze closure (to disconnect the frame from the wheel area) was a bit hard. I didn’t want to get stuck somewhere and not be able to close it… again, I already had that in the Combi. I have carpal tunnel and weak hands, so that was very important to me. On the Techno, it really felt like a race car- sleek, quick and nimble, easy maneuvering, very easy closure, the *only* downside was the lack of napper bar. And maybe that is not a downside after all. I got the Techno in “carbon and crystal”. It’s beautiful and my son loves it! Thanks to everyone who, through your passionate and detailed explanations and reviews of the tons of strollers here, armed me with info to make what I HOPE will be my final stroller purchase. I’m a monogamous stroller girl, so this better be the right one!
