View Full Version : What About The Tippiness Of The Quest?

Another question re: Triumph vs. Quest: In the reviews, I see that the Quest gets lower marks than the Triumph because it is so tippy. I also noticed that in the Triumph reviews there are no complaints about the seat depth.

I really want to make a decision quickly since babysurplus has some good deals on eBay for the Quest right now. I did a search and found that many of you recommend the Quest despite the tippiness. Just how tippy is it? I really don't want to have to pick up my stroller off the ground every time DD gets out of it when she is old enough to do so. I plan to have this stroller for a long time since it will be used lightly.

Thanks so much!

All the Macs are the same: very, very tippy. That's why they steer so well. Most of the weight is on the rearwheels.
I think the only Mac that is not as tippy as the rest is the Global Buggy. It's discontinued.

Anyway, I think and have learned that it's important to get the stroller that you have set your heart on. Otherwise, you'll go on and on thinking "what if...".

I do have to say that I have a Techno XT now and it is much less tippy than others I have had. Granted, I still think it would tip, but it doesn't fly back with just the diaper bag on it like the Quest I had. It's just heavier though, I think.

Thanks for the responses. I guess what I really am asking is whether the Quest is any more tippy than the Triumph. I was able to see a Triumph IRL, but not a Quest. I put my rather heavy purse on the back of the Triumph and it tipped a little, but did not fall over. I also put DD in it and as of now, the seat if fine, but it does hit her legs funny. It looks like the edge of the seat will fold under at the front and get all icky looking.

I think I have my heart set on a Quest, but don't want to be disappointed since I can't really compare the two.

As you can see, I am agonizing over this decision! I did the same thing with my car seat - LOL! Once I narrow my decision down to two models, I want it now...KWIM?

They are both pretty tippy (that is the nature of a Mac umbrella, as a PP mentioned). They aren't really tippy when a child is in the seat, but do tend to tip if you lift the child out without removing your diaper bag from the handles. The higher up your bag sits on the handles, the tippier it will be (if it is hanging almost down to the back wheels, it will tend to tip less). You pretty much have to get used to taking your bag off the handles before taking your child out, or keeping your bag in the (small) basket.

ETA: If you are near a Target store, go see if they have any Maclaren Vogues left on clearance for $99. Very similar to the Quest, but with slightly bigger wheels (which makes it easier to push over different surfaces).

I have a Truumph and it is by far my favorite stroller just because it is so easy to use and steer. I have never had a problem with it tipping with DS in it but when I take him out it will fall over if my diaper bag is on the back. (I am a serious overpacker though) :)

The way I look at it is that I am using a stroller to have the child ride in it so what it does when DS is out of it doesn't really matter. If I take him out to change him I always take my bag off anyway. To me it is worth is to have a stroller that steers well.

Thanks guys - this really helps! I am planning to go to Target today to see what strollers they may have there. If I don't find a Vogue, I will order the Quest. Of the deals I have found, I can get an '05 Quest for about $16 more than the best Triumph deal I have found.

Thanks again,
