Hi,
We have been using a Graco Metrolite for our daughter (now 21 months) since she was born, and its worked pretty well for us.
We'll be traveling next Friday and wanted to get a lighter weight umbrella stroller, so we bought a Combi DX. We put it together today, and after seating our daughter on it we noticed that her feet are not quite resting on the foot rest. She could reach the foot rest but she could also dangle her feet.
We compared it to where her legs hang on our old Graco, and noticed that its deeper which allows her legs to not quite touch the foot rest.
Anyone ever notice this? My husband had to go to BRU today and checked out other umbrella strollers and he thought they all had this same issue.
Any quick thoughts before Friday??? We're trying to decide if we'll keep the Combi & use it for the trip or if we'll just take the Graco and deal with the extra weight.

Yes, the combi does not have an extendable leg rest. You can exchange the combi for the chicco C5 (at BRU) which does have one, if you want to stay in the same price range. Another great umbrella stroller with an extendable leg rest is the Maclaren Quest, also sold at BRU.

Thanks for the recommendations, I'll go check them out today during my lunchtime today.
My other question is regarding the use of the footrest - do most kids use it or do they just dangle their legs? I was looking at a pictures of the Chicco & McLaren strollers, and the foot rest looks like just a thin bar. Is the foot rest something to worry about?
I think my daughter was banging her feet on the Combi foot rest out of boredom (we just put her in it & wheeled her around the living room), maybe she'd stop doing that if she were being strolled around but we are afraid of test driving the Combi outside the house b/c then it would be unreturnable.

I would spring for a lightweight stroller with extendable leg rest if I were you. I think the Chicco or Maclaren are fine choices (but watch the weight limit on the Chicco, some are only 37 lbs).
The only thing I don't like about my Silver Cross Mini is that it doesn't have an extendable legrest. My 21 month old old is always scwirming and sometimes looks as if he sliding right off the seat. An extendable legrest would extend the length of your seat so their legs would rest on the seat not hang down to the bottom foot rest.
I also have a Graco Metrolite and the seat is much longer and wider than most umbrella strollers so he is much more comfy in there for longer outings. I would love a Mac with extendable legrest but am expecting #2 so don't want to invest in another single stroller! Good luck on your purchase!

Thanks for the advice Marie! We ended up getting a Britax Esprit and LOVED it. Its lightweight, has the leg extensions and my daughter looked comfy in it even when she napped while we were in Disney (and she rarely naps in our Graco Metrolite!) The basket wasn't as big as the one in our Metrolite but it was enough, plus we were able to hand our diaper bag off the handles. Plus it was easy enough to open/ close.
AND best of all they were selling it at half price ($50!) at Buy Buy Baby! I guess they're discontinuing it because I saw it on sale all over the internet as well. I was lucky enough to snag one of the last ones at the local BBB. At that price I don't mind so much if it gets wear/ tear down the road (which was the only big complaint I read about this model).

Good for you! I'm glad you found something that worked for you at a great price! Hope you had a good time at Disney. :)
