Debit Cards in Canada?

Is there a Canadian bank that has a debit/cheque card that has a mastercard or visa logo on it? I'm travelling to the States in October, and I'd like to have something I can use as a credit card...

I have a prepaid credit card, but loading it is a PITA, and the fees are astronomical.

I've never heard of VISA cheque cards in Canada (I know what they are from US ads).
