chinook

Hi everyone,
My twins are turning one next week (I CAN'T believe it!) and I'm trying to figure out what to do for outerwear this winter. They aren't walking yet but DS will be soon and DD isn't too far behind.
So, I figure my options are either getting a one piece snowsuit for walks and toddling around, and then a jacket, or getting a jacket/snowpant combo.
I'm leaning toward a snowsuit and then a jacket. I'm worried about them being in their carseats in a big winter coat, so I thought if I got really warm snowsuits then I could get lighter-weight coats for errands etc (but then I'm not sure if they'd freeze in those coats?)
Any advice?
Also, where's the best place to get stuff like this? I don't like 3-in-1 coats (Children's Place has those) and Gap's coat/snowpant combo is pretty pricey. Has anyone tried Old Navy's toddler winter coats?
I'm in Calgary so while we enjoy chinooks there are quite a few really cold days.
Thanks in advance for your wisdom, ladies!
