View Full Version : I hate where I live!

And now the projected finish date for our house is the end of June. Which we all know means July. I am so sick of living in this tiny apartment and listening to the stomping around woman who lives upstairs and coming home after working all day to find someone parked in my space so that I have to go and park in the visitor lot and lug the baby and our groceries and whatever other stuff I happen to be lugging on any given day. We never got to enjoy the summer last year because of packing and moving and it will be the same thing all over again. not to mention that almost all of my belongings are in storage. I nknew it would be several months and then not until May but 6 months seemed dealable. But now I feel like I am going over the edge. Then DH who usually is the most reasonable person tells me he doesn't see what the big deal is. I want to strangle him right now. We never fight and I feel like I really want to rip him a new one right now. I think I will wait as I also think I'm about to get my period which would explain why this relatively uncontrollable thing is making me crazy. Thank you for listening.

Edited to add one more rant....I forgot to say that the reason we are moving is that we live in the armpit of the universe of a town. They call it a city here in Maine but to me it is just a terribly depressing town where in the 3 1/2 years that I have been here I have had a terrible time trying to meet people and make friends. I am so looking forward to getting to a nice town with people that I can meet and friends that I can make.

ooooh, are you mad or what?! So sorry about all of that Barbara. I think it might just be the hormones talking too!
Don't go over the edge Barbara, it will be over before you know it and you won't have to worry about the woman upstairs or someone in your spot!
Hope you have a better day tomorrow. :)

Leave a notice on the car parked in your spot and say something like:
'I want to be a good neighbor and not call the police. So I am asking you to please not park in a spot that is not yours.'
This worked for us when our neighbor left their barking dog in their backyard for several nights in a row.

Barbara, I am sorry you're so frustrated. I am a really impatient person and it would drive me nuts waiting. As someone who is "from away," I have found it a little challenging to meet friends up here too. If you want to get together one day (maybe at the Maine Mall), I'd love to. Just e-mail me.

Hi Barbara- I'm so sorry about the apartment life! I've been there and I know how bad it is. I totally agree about leaving a note on the car! We left one on a car that parked in our spot- made it look like it was from the city and they never parked there again.
We should all get together soon! I know it's only going to get worse with winter coming. My 3 year old has me going mental (but that's my own rant) and I need to get out and see other moms. We need to get our babies together anyway! Maine is a hard place to meet people cause everything is so rural and people kind of keep to themselves. That's one of the main reasons I keep working at the hospital- lots of people. I work tonight so if you're there- come see me.
Let's plan a get together- I'd love to see you again! Take care and hang in there!

Oh YUCK.
I'm so sorry you're having a rough time of it. I am NOT looking forward to being a Nomad for three weeks between the condo and house.
At least you don't have to stay in a hotel!! ;)
Chin up, Wilbur!

Barbara,
I know exactly where you are coming from. It seems like I have waited forever for my life to begin. DH and I have moved 8 times in 10 years. We have been couped up in this tiny house that is falling apart for 18 months. I have been at the breaking point for sooooo long. :( We decided to build in January of this year. Our move-in date got pushed behind too. Well- on Friday we will finally be moving into our new house. Walking through it today made me realize how worth it the long wait was. Once the new year begins and you start watching the progression, time will fly. I promise. The best advice I can give is to get out of the apartment as much as possible. I bought a zoo membership to occupy our time and spent a lot of time there. Good Luck--- I know it seems like forever... :)

Barbara,
I'm so sorry, I know the temporary-ness can be so wearing! I had a similar situation when we first got married and the best thing I can say about it is that I can barely remember those 8 months! You WILL be outta there soon, hang in there...and soon you too will be able to block this from your memory banks!

You guys are all awesome. Thank you. Katie and Susan I would love to get together and do something. A mini baby bargains get together!
I am definately feeling a little better about the other night. I also feel petty about my bitching after reading some of the other posts here. My problems seem kind of lame compared to someof the others. Oh well. Katie and Susan-I'll email you guys.
