We went to the ped's office Friday to hopefully get a referral for allergy testing for all 3 kids and to pysch for full evaluation for Alex (long story, we suspect something on the autism spectrum). Doc is not our usual, guy is totally rude, dismissive of my concerns, condescending and would not give me the referral for any of them. Daria needs it the most, she had contact hives a gew weeks ago! And to make matters worse Alex and Eliza now have a cold, probably picked up in the peds office which was essentially a wasted appointment!!

I did get the referral to psych for Alex and I demanded at least a urine and bloodwork for Daria to rule out other reasons besides allergies for her symptoms but that was as far as we got.

Just to give you an idea of how rushed he was, I had 3 appts. 3pm, 3:40pm and 4pm for all 3 kids, we left his office at 3:30pm. He cut me off when I was speaking to him and was an all around jerk. I have never dealt with someone so rude, I will not be going to him again.

Hugs! I hope you find a good doctor, especially for Alex. I am sure this is a stressful time, trying to figure out what to do for Alex to get the best treatment. And this doctor should have taken the time for something so serious. I just read a good article by Dr. Sears in Dec/Jan Parenting magazine and it talked about how to tell a ped you're not happy with them. Anyway, hope all the kids get to feeling better soon. And please let us know about Alex. Hugs to you all,

That is terrible. We're those supposed to be back to back appointments for your 3 kids? If they were, I would complain to your regular doctor and if you don't get a satisfactory response to your health insurance carrier. You pay your premiums so that your insurance carrier will cover your medical expenses. If that doctor is providing substandard treatment, I would encourage your carrier to drop him from their list and he'll need to work on his bedside manner to build his practice.

So sorry you had to go through this. What a jerk is right! I would definitely mention it to your regular doc or whoever the senior doctor is on staff. I had somewhat of a similar situation (different specifics) and complained to my regular doctor who also happens to be one of two senior docs in the office. He was very appreciative of the feedback, seemed genuinly concerned and promised me that the situation would be addressed. I hope things turn out ok for Alex. Nothing like an A#####E! when you need understanding and support the most. Hugs.
