This has been progressively getting worse over the past couple of months...there is no virus on my computer...I have Norton, and Macs generally avoid these worms and things... Anyway, is there something I can do? The guy at Best Buy said to bring it in and they will "clean it up" which of course will cost me $60...not really how I want to spend my $ if it's something I can do myself... Any suggestions?
TIA!

One quick thing to check is how much free disk space you have. Once that gets pretty low, your computer may start freezing. And you may have megs and megs of space eaten up by temp files and cookies. Can you clear some of that stuff out and see if it helps?

Are you using Classic or OS X? I've noticed that OS X really elimates freezing for the most part...you also may want to empty the trash if you have a ton of stuff in there....
One more thing....if you're using Classic/OS 9...start up w/ the extensions off (holding down the shift key when you restart). Work in a few programs (internet, etc won't work just yet)....slowly add 10 extensions back in at a time (apple menu, control panels, extensions managers) and then restart....repeat...it might be an extension conflict and this is how I usually instruct fellow staff members to pinpoint the problem.
Memory is really cheap...you may also want to install the maximum amount of memory that your mac can take. Depending on the model, some are SUPER easy to add memory too.

I know Rachels had some questions awhile back and they were able to help her out.
FYI, registration is not required to post.
