It is a little weird. I haven't figured it out yet, but I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the fact that every number you come up with ends up being divisible by 9.

Hello!
It didn't work for me for the first several tries, and then started to. I got my DH to try and it didn't work for him either.
Are we doing it wrong?

Got it!
Every number you can possibly come up with is divisible by 9. So every single product of 9 has the same answer.
For instance, you choose 54 as your number. 54-4-5=45. The answer for 45 happens to be cardboard.
However, if you look at the little matrix they set up, 9, 18, 27, 36, 45, 54, 63, 72, and 81 also have cardboard as their "junk."
The computer assigns a different junk product to the nines numbers everytime you try it. This will insure you get a different answer every time. That's also why it won't let use the "back" key on your browser.
I hope that made sense.

What number did you pick?

It's because there are only so many answers and all the possible answers have the same type of junk which has to be the one you pick. All the rest of the numbers ie (things like 1 and 7) are filler.. Each time you restart the computer just randomly assigns the same type of junk to the possible answers. It seems a little mysterious because of all the filler junk types =)
