One of my best friends is having her second baby (a boy) and her older son is just thrilled about it. I want to send along a gift for him as well when I send the new baby's gift.
Does anyone have any ideas/recommendations for a good big brother gift for a 7-ish year old? (OTHER than a "big brother" t-shirt, etc.? ;) )
TIA,

Someone gave my son a disposable camera to take pictures of the baby. (We didn't have a digital camera then.) My son loved being able to take pictures of his own- and he actually got some great shots!

I second Julie's idea. We did that for my cousin. She had two older kids - 5 and 8 and we gave each of them a disposable camera with their own little scrapbooks and some "baby" page stickers (from Michaels).
Another idea is just an age appropriate toy (no help here, my oldest is 14 months). I think it is great that you are thinking of him too. The older kids often get lost in the shuffle of a newborn,

Me too, I think a camera is a great idea. I don't know what you are budgeting, but there is a mini digital camera at a SuperTarget called a Snap Che-eez. We just got this for a birthday present for a friend's daughter. It was $40. DH researched and learned that this same camera was sold through the Sharper Image for double the price and even though it looks dinky, it's supposed to be pretty good. The older boy could have the job of taking pictures of his baby brother. If your friends are ok with computers, it might be nice for them to sit down with the older boy and go through all the pictures he took on the computer without having to spend extra money to develop the film.
