View Full Version : What is your term of endearment? Hopefully not Bushie... LOL

After hearing last night that the President and First Lady call each other "Bushie" ?!!? (The Bush twins shared that last night during the convention.) I was wondering what term of endearment you like to call your spouse or he calls you.

As for me, after 5 years my DH and I still simply call each other by name. My DH is named Tom, and I use to want to call him Tommy but he won't let me :(

We call one another Love. As in 'hey Love, can you take out the garbage?' And yes, oddly enough this term of endearment comes up mostly when we want something done!

i hardly ever call dh by his name!!! (jeffrey NOT jeff.)

ok. we went from: chicken-head (no lie!) to chicken to baby to honey to bunny and we are currently on bunny rabbit. but here is the truly disgusting part... we are ALL bunny or bunny rabbit!!!!!!!!! dh, me and schuyler!! and the fetus is "tiny bunny!!!!" we are SUCH dorks. wow. serious losers over here... it gets very confusing when everyone is bunny. you just don't know who anyone is talking to!

ETA: we have some friends who call each other "lover." it started as a joke, from a SNL skit. but they kept doing it. it is SO funny to hear!!!!!! i love it!!!!!!!

I call Joshua (my husband) Jat and he calls me kjp (pronounced kijip!). These names are our pre-marriage initials. Now we both hyphenate but we still use the old initial shorthand. Mostly we use these names on little notes to each other.

DH calls me Chicky Mama or just Chicky. It's actually VERY strange for me to hear him say Angela. It kind of freaks me out so I'm glad he doesn't do it often. :)
DH's name is Timothy but he goes by Tim, but I call him Timmy (I'm the only one who calls him that except for his best female friend from HS).
The baby is Raisin b/c we don't know the sex yet.
The dog's name is Chloe, but we call her Chlo and Chlo-dog a lot. :)

Liza--that's so funny about the "lover" from SNL!! I would crack up everytime I heard that!

We're "Seinfeld" fans, so we use the word "Shmoopy" like Jerry did with his really nauseating girlfriend in that one episode.

DH and I have always called each other "baby." When I was PG, he started saying, "hey BABIES!" to me, LOL...I thought that was very cute! He still says that to Ellie and me everytime he walks in the door!

We call each other "Honey", although DH likes to call me "Woman" and "Nay" sometimes too. We hardly ever call each other by name.

Yep, schmoopie here too. But it usually morphs into "schumpy," or "schmumples" or something like that. Sometimes "Foomples." What can I say, we're strange. ;-)

dh calls me wheezie/wheez/hun and i call him tsmeemee (like tsu-nami)/cookie/hun (used to be moomoo, booboo etc but it is forever morphing into new names).

I call DH by his nickname Pat. But as far as terms of endearment, we are definitely "Boo Boo", "Boo Boo Bear" and "Baby" people. My parents say that they want to gag when they hear us saying "Baby". Matthew is my "Pumpkin"....

ETA that we also call each other "Honey" which led to "Honey Bunches of Oats". DH calls me "Honey Bunches of Toasted Oats"... :)

I cannot believe I am admitting this...DH's name is Dave and for some unknown reason I call him "Davey Wavey." Sometimes he says, "Hey Babe" but other than that, I don't think he has a nickname for me.

We call each other by each other's names or more often, by "Dear". However, DD gets called a ton of names: Kiddo, Kidski, The Little Oinklet, The Little Oinkster, Babelet, Kiddie (not to be mixed up with our Kitties), Babees, Babester, Bubble Butt, and occasionally, Kaya. :) And our cats get called all sorts of names: Valentine (Valley, Valski, Dog-kitty--she fetches), Picasso (Peeko, Peekster, Peekomoo, Peeks), Papageno (Popster, Poppycat, Pops, Popling, Poplink--yes DH is a computer nerd, Fat Cat, Stinker), Calypso (Callie, Calski, Calinski, Callie-ali-ipso), and they all get called Fuzbutt, Fuzlings. DH's hobby is coming up with more nicknames for all the "Kids". :)

Mostly we both use "honey". But we went through a phase when we were engaged and then married where we commonly referred to each other as Bride or Groom and then Husband/Wife. We were pretty darned into the wedding and marriage thing!

We don't call each other by name anymore. I call him Pooch (short for poochie) and he calls me Punk (short for punkin). We used to call Nathalie our little peanut, but it's morphed into The Nut, or Nutcake (and Buttcake when she's naughty :P ).

Hee, hee, I once yelled out at a softball game "Nice hit, honey." That kind of mistake never goes away.

I use 'Honey', he uses 'Hez' (childhood nickname). We call DS by his name or 'Baby' or 'Bubba'. Don't know where 'Bubba' came from-- I think from the sitter, but it sort of fits 'cause DS is still so chunky. In fact, a friend calls him 'Chunk-a-monk' :)

Hee, hee, have they ever called him Monkey (a la Chunky Monkey ice cream) or Curious George? DH likes to push DD's ears forward and sing, "Monkey ears!" It makes her laugh. :)

DH is my honey bunny, and he gets very riled up if I dare use that for anyone else. I'm usually just "hon". Martie is my pie-pie which is derived from Sweety Pie. DH calls her stinky pants. He should probably change that though.

Mine's embarassing - actually, it's in my screen name. We both call each other "G". It began as a joke early on in our dating, short for "gangsta" and somehow it stuck. That's almost all we call each other and I used to try to hide it around other people so they wouldn't think we were total freaks, but now I don't even bother, everyone's used to it!

We're all "sweetie" in this household. It's kind of confusing.

However, it was awfully cute when we were out for dinner when DS almost 2 and the waitress got a "Thanks Sweetie" for bringing him is chicken strips!

Funny, DH calls me sntm (snit-um) which are my married initials, but he started calling me that years and years ago well before we ever seriously talked about marriage or anything.

I don't have a specific nickname for him (other than the "hon, babe, sweetie" that I use for lots of people -- it's a Southern thing, I guess). He and his sister call each other Doofus.

For Jack, whew, I don't have time to write them all. Snifflesnoot, sniffles, snif (can you tell he is frequently congested???), the little man, Jack-ster, Jack-pot, Baby-Jack, lovebug, babyman, babe-babe, Jack-in-the-box, etc.

We've got a ton. Most of them come from me so he gets such fabulous names as goose, buster, bust, bustard, babe, hon, sweets... DH leaves
out the buster variations but uses all of the others, too.

And DS is almost always Bubba. Which is really funny b/c there isn't a bit of chub to him to warrant ChubbaBubba and I don't think we could ever be considered redneck. Nevertheless, DS is Bubba :) I'm going to have to wean myself from that soon...

Babe or hon usually. Sometimes dh calls me baby instead of babe which is what I call him.

My nickname is Fafles and he calls me that a lot. I call my DH Hunny Bunny or Hubsy. He also calls me sweetie pie, sweetie or cutie.
Funny.
