Lil'bit went from a fever off and on, to diagnosed with a bad cold and throat infection, to now a mystery rash of unknown orgins. Gee so glad I took her to the dr! He doesnt know if its contagious or not, so Miss Moose had to miss school again (she has only gone once this week and misses it terribly!) Soo, does anyone know of resources to check on rashes?
Id like to know a little more about how long it might last, if it could be causing her pain (she is a little crabby and restless but not itchy as far as I can tell) and just overall what is out there. He said its not HFM, didnt mention rosieola, but said it could be one of many possibilites. Sigh, my poor baby!

Did she have shots recently? Did the fever coincide with the shots at all? Perhaps she is having a reaction to the shots? If she has had them, do you have the "fact" sheets that the Drs office is supposed to hand out that might list some of the possible side effects?

Oh Kathryn, we are in that boat too! DD has to stay home today and is so angry at me. I keep telling her it is just until we figure out if she has hfm this weekend and that the nurse would send her home anyway. :-( Have you come up with any good activities? On top of things the weather is nasty, so I can not take them in the yard to play.
On to the rashes-
http://www.askdrsears.com/html/8/T082900.asp is a great resource! He explains what the rashes look like, and has some pics. We had 5ths disease here in the spring, and it started much like what you describe. Saw the doc and everything. I got it too. Hopefully it is just a mild reaction to detergent and not contagious at all. ;-) Feel better Miss Moose!

One of my guys has had a mystery rash for a few weeks. He's also been sick (double ear infection and tonsillitis). Ped said she's not sure what the rash is - could be a viral manifestation of his illness. Could be an allergy. Rashes are very hard to diagnose the cause. Like you, I walked out thinking "Gee, thanks for the insight." LOL.
I hope she's feeling better soon.

Kieran just got over Scarlet Fever...I noticed the rash first. It's Strep with a bad rash. Look it up in your book to see if your child has some of those symptoms.
