Some of you expressed interest in something I mentioned earlier about my whacko inlaw's burial plans

DO NOT READ BEYOND THIS POINT IF YOU DO NOT WANT EXTREMELY GORY DETAILS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!

MIL and stepfather IL stopped by SIL's house a few months back and mentioned to her that they had been talking it over and came up with a fabulous idea for how they wanted to be buried if they "died together". SIL cautiously asked what they had in mind. MIL responded "Well, I will be In the casket and 'Jim' will be cremated and we will have his ashes put in a dildo and the dildo put in me! Don't you think that is a cool idea?" SIL's response "PLEASE TELL ME YOU ARE JOKING!" 'Jim's' response "No, we are pretty serious about this. I don't know how hard it will be to find a dildo-shaped urn - perhaps you could have my ashes put in the battery compartment of a regular dildo - maybe that would work." SIL (horrified) said that at this point, she put her hands over her ears and started chanting "LALALALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU LALALALALALA".

I do NOT have normal inlaw problems - these people are completely psychotic. A few years back when we went to visit their house, MIL excitedly said to us "Oh, you two have to come upstairs and see what 'Jim' put up in the bedroom". We leerily went to see what she was talking about and when we enetered her bedroom saw that there were now mirrors on the ceiling over their bed. To each his own, what people do in their bedrooms is their own business, yada yada yada, but to feel the need to show it to your son and DIL? YIKES!

Aren't you all sorry you asked now? }(

If there was a smilie (or I knew how to even use it), I'd be posting one with my jaw hitting the floor right now.

That is most definitely the weirdest thing I have ever heard (read). I honestly don't know what to say. Maybe my IL's are so crazy after all! LOL

Images. Images. Why do parent types think we want to know that? I will never be grown enough to have those kinds of conversation with my parents or even worse grandparents. Yeah, I think we are sorry we asked.

Okay, isn't this something that you only see on TV like on Silk Stalkings?

Wow. Maybe they have a new business idea? I read that cremations are starting to overtake burials. But if you could do BOTH, now that would be something...

OMG!! There is something seriously wrong with your in-laws. That is one of the most bizarre and disturbing things I have ever heard of. I hope they've taken care of this on their own cause I wouldn't want to be the one to tell the funeral director. Think of the look on that guys face when he hears their wishes? ROTFL

I can't even imagine what family holidays are like at your house.

That's hilarious. Clearly, they are somewhat touched in the head....but I still think I'd prefer them to my in-laws. Constant entertainment!

Okay, that's freaky, but just the pure logistics of this is.... what's he want done w/the rest of his ashes?? :D

Unless he'd liked them all shoved inside her, which once rigor mortis has set in could be a challenge for the poor mortician.

Oh my. Well DH and I just got a good chuckle. Do these people think that they are normal? And do they think they could find a funeral director who would do this? Oh my. I am speechless.

Lauren,
I have tears running down my face I am laughing so hard. Your inlaws are sick people! I just don't know what else to say, OMG!!!!!

Knowing them, they would probably insist that the service be open casket because they think their plan is just so cool. My mother, who LOVES to hear the crazy inlaw stories (she says she likes knowing she could never do anything as screwy as them) was joking that perhaps there would be a flashing neon sign over the casket pointing down to where 'Jim' is.

This story probably does the best at highlighting their overall craziness but, really, this is just the tip of the iceberg. MIL used to hit on SIL high school boyfriends because she thinks she is that hot. She dresses like a 1980's teenage slut (think skin-tight jeans with lace on the sides and see-through tops) - she is 58. For the record, dh is normal (how, I will never know) but believe me, the genetic pool around here makes me very nervous. :)

Whoa. If I saw it on "Six Feet Under" I would say that was some crazy thing cooked up by drugged up writers.

I cannot even imagine how mortifying that was for your SIL.

Yikes!!

I should tell this to DH. It might make him feel less icky for having had to spend his birthday a few years back administering an AIDS test to his mother and lecturing her on safe sex practices as a result of her having had unprotected sex with random Internet men she agreed to meet, have sex with, and marry, sight unseen!

So what happens if they don't go together? Does FIL get stored in a dildo for later? Will MIL get stored up in some strange device and then inserted into FIL? Will MIL be exhumed for insertion of FIL?

Enquiring minds want to know....

Also, what's the smilie for losing one's lunch?

momathome
12-09-2004, 07:01 PM
Since dh refuses to bring this topic up with his mother and SIL certainly does not want to go there again, we are left to speculate on what the arrangements will be if one dies before the other. I personally think that given how cool they think their idea is, if one dies before the other, I wouldn't be surprised if the one still living commits suicide just they can carry out their grand plan. I already informed dh that this will be one funeral I will NOT be attending. ;)

Now, don't you all feel better about your inlaws??? }(

It does make me appreciate my ILs all the more.
