I'm wondering about experiences with the Pill, and with different versions of the Pill.

I'm on Alesse, which I really like because it doesn't make me a hormonal nutcase like the other pills I've been on (Demulen, Ortho-Tricyclen, and one other). I stay nice on Alesse. I was on it for more than a year before I got pregnant with DS, and towards the end of that year, maybe for 3-4 months, I would begin spotting during the last week on the real pills, in addition to having AF during the week of reminder pills. I got PG while on the Pill, and am wondering if it might have anything to do with this spotting thing. My OB/Gyn said it almost definitely didn't, but that seems somehow wrong to me.

Has anyone else gone through this? Or does anyone have any thoughts on the subject?

Thanks :)

I took Alesse years ago and it helped with the various physical discomforts I had associated with AF. For some reason, after AF came back when I weaned DD, all those discomforts were more pronounced. I just started on the one-a-week BC patch, Ortho-evra. I think it's great, especially since I always had trouble remembering a pill every day.

Ladies, what do you think about Alesse now? I may start on it
THanks!

I still like it, although I'm not on it anymore.

I got pg on it in November - although I didn't stay that way, so the peace of mind is gone.

However, it worked for me for about five years, without any problems, and if I did go on any pill again, it would be Alesse.

Alesse was the first birth control pill that I took. I was on it for a year and then I went to a different doctor for my yearly exam. She took me off Alesse because I was spotting, and she said that since it was one of the lowest dosage pills that people got pregnant more frequently on it.

I tried two different pills after that, and they both gave me headaches. I finally had the best luck with Mircette. Since DS was born I have a Mirena IUD and don't plan on going back on the pill again.

We recently moved and I didn't get a new OB in time to get another prescription for Ortho-Tricyclen. I never knew how much it effected me but after a couple weeks I felt so much better. Actually DH noticed that I'm not so bitchy anymore. I just decided to stay off it for now. DH and I both work full time now. Me from 7:30am til 5pm and DH starts at 4pm so there's not much time for sex anyway. We can use a condom once or twice a month and if get pregnant we can deal with that too. I do want another baby just not right now.
I used to be on another pill with lower hormomes years ago and I was spotting. I happened to change doctors then because we moved and the new doctor told me I was spotting because the hormones were to low and I could have gotten pregnant.
