We haven't actually gone to the party store yet, but DS consistently says that he wants a firetruck-themed birthday party this year. Has anyone done one of those? If so, what party supplies did you use, how did you decorate, etc. Any tips would be appreciated. FWIW, this will be a primarily adult party with possibly 2 or 3 child cousins attending, but possibly DS will be the only child there.

The Fire Truck stuff looked really cute! I was sort of hoping Colin might go for that over Sesame Street. They had a plastic fire hats at our party store and I was thinking those would be really cute, even on some of our adult party guests. :) For Colin's first birthday, I got him a cake and it was actually decorated with a hotwheels style fire truck that you could save to play with later.

We haven't done one, but we have been to one. It was really fun. Ours however had several children in attendance. What is your primary concern. My guess is that if it is mostly family they will be happy that you son is happy. I have seen great fire truck cakes, pinatas, paper goods. I say if thats what the birthday boy wants go for it!

I think that sounds like great fun!! We are talking about a possible truck theme for Noah's birthday. He loves cement mixers and excavators :)

I don't really have a concern other than finding cute party supplies. I was hopinh that someone could lead me to some cute plates and decorations.
I only mentioned it would be mostly adults to indicate that party games, etc. aren't important. When I did an on-line search, I didn't see much, which surprised me. And, I didn't know if people had trouble finding firetruck cakes at stores (I seem to have problems with the cakes because I don't pick a commercialized (i.e. Disney, Sesame Street, Nascar, Barbie) theme.
I did see that Family Fun cake - I not sure I'm that ambitious. We'll see.

I did one for Brendan's 4th b'day. We actually had it at the fire station. Our town does them for $40 and they give the birthday boy a ride home on a fire truck! It was so cool. The kids got to play all over the fire trucks during the party.
We did red and black balloons and streamers and firetruck plates, cups, napkins. I bought a fire truck pinata for the kids (but it might be fun for adults ;) ) I bought the cake at the grocery store and it had a firetrucks, an ambulance, police car, etc. on it.
I got everything at the party store so it was pretty easy. Have fun :)

Do a google search! When I was searching for Farm birthday ideas, I found loads of stuff and a lot of it was firetruck! Sorry I can't be more specific...I was on a mission. I just know I saw stuff! There are lots of cute ideas out there!

I believe that Wilton makes a fire truck cake pan. That might be easier for you to make instead of the Family Fun cake.
When I had Nick's truck party, I used the construction hats as bowls for the chips and such. You could do that with the plastic fireman hats. I don't have any other ideas, but if it's not too warm on the day, I might be inclined to have the b-day wear his rain coat and rain boots!

I have no idea if it's a chain, but we went to "Party World." It's actually the only party store in town! I *think* I may have also seen some cute Fire Truck stuff in the Birthday Express catalog. [http://www.birthdayexpress.com/bexpress/]

I have no idea if it's a chain, but we went to "Party World." It's actually the only party store in town! I *think* I may have also seen some cute Fire Truck stuff in the Birthday Express catalog. [http://www.birthdayexpress.com/bexpress/]

Ok, I have spent way too much time thinking about this. :)How about red and yellow as the color theme.
You can have "hot dogs" for the kids. The kids can do a hunt for fire fighter items. Go to a clip art site and grab a fire truck, hose, dog, hat etc. Print lots them on card stock paper and let the kids find them. This site shows you how to make a fire truck

Wilton did make a fire truck pan, I have it. Not sure if it's still current. If you have a cake supply store near you, they may have it as they tend to carry the older pans. It's very cute and easy to decorate.

i ordered supplies from birthday express online
http://www.birthdayexpress.com/bexpress/find.asp?find_spec=fire+truck
we had a fire truck come as well. it was a huge hit with the kids and they kept them busy the whole time (trying on gear, tours of the fire truck, etc.)
i had a bunch of mylar fire truck balloons, fire truck play tent (a gift from an uncle), personalized fire truck banner, fire truck cake (got it locally), and fire truck party favors (fire truck stickers, little action figures, tattoos, etc.), and i put out all of his fire trucks!
lmk if you have any other questions!
eta: we also had fire truck hats and badges and a coloring project that became a fire truck

We did general cars and trucks for DS's birthday and it was far and away mostly adults in attendance. I decorated the table with a plain white tablecloth and had a "road" in the center with a gray paper tablecloth folded into thirds and had lines down the center. I then put toy cars and trucks on the "road" which led to the car cake. The only other decorations I had were the paper goods (pic below) and balloons and confetti to match.
I got my things at www.birthdayinabox.com mostly because I could negotiate the website better, but they don't have any firetruck exclusive themes. There is a fire truck on the "Around Town" ones but I like the ones at Birthday Express better.
I saw that Wilton mold at Party City where they are evidently not going to carry cake decorating things anymore and it was on sale. If you want me to get it for you, just let me know and I'll go down there and check if it's still there.

I'm really not inclined to decorate his cake. I'm a good baker, but not a good decorator. Someday I want to try it, but I'm not sure this is the year. (I may be reconsidering when I go to the grocery stores and there's no firetruck cake). Thanks so much for offering to check on the pan for me, though.
Did you happen to notice whether Party City had any cute fire truck party supplies? That's usually where I go, but it's clear on the other side of town.

I did do a Google search before I posted and only found 3 firetruck patterns. The only one I liked was at Birthday Express, which I think was an exclusive. I hate to order these on-line, because I invariably get too much and then return it. But, I may have to. The Birthday Express pattern is really cute.

Honestly, I didn't notice! I did see fire hats down on the shelf where they keep the larger accessories, but I didn't look up to see what went with it. So it's possible there were other things to go with them. I'm SURE the grocery store bakeries will have a fire truck theme! Good luck!

I think they had one at their fire station! Apparently if you go and ask, they may allow it. I haven't asked ours, yet, but a friend said they do it where we live as well.
Also, I just rec'd the "Birthday Express" catalog and there's an entire Firetruck theme set in there.
