Ok, so I'm just a lurker. But I was hoping to get some opinion on this. My DD's been throwing up for no good reason. She has no diarrhea and no temp, so I don't think it's a stomach virus. (My ped agrees.)

Anyway, 2 weeks ago, she was sent home b/c she threw up. Then again on Monday. Yesterday, we kept her home even though we knew she's ok. She's still very active, no sign that she doesn't feel well. Of course she didn't throw up yesterday. Today, she's back at daycare and wouldn't you know it, she throws up.

Ok, I'm a WOHM b/c we need it financially. It's not for the adult interaction, I'd rather be with my DD. And I'm pg, and we'll pull DD out of daycare as soon as I go on maternity leave which is about 5+ mos from now. I just have to get through this.

My DD has a Drs appt on Monday. I will ask the Dr to run some tests to confirm everything's ok. But for now, it's hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Thanks for listening. I'm just so frustrated. I'd be happier if the Dr said she's sick, then there would be no question about it--I'd stay home with my baby.

How frustrating!

I know that daycares have to follow the State Health Depts. regulations for sending sick children home, so it's hard to do much about htat when they are doing what they have to (if they don't they can get written up).

Have you introduced any new foods lately? Is she eating and then running around, or getting too hot while playing outside? I would ask the daycare what is happening leading up to her throwing up. Also have them keep a detailed list of what she is eating (not the menu, but what she is actually putting in her mouth).

I hope you get to the bottom of this, I can imagine how frustrated you must feel!

Perhaps your daycare will accept a note from the doctor explaining the situation & in their professional opinion it is ok for your DD to be at daycare. My DS had thrown up at daycare a couple times due to mucus (sorry if TMI) from a past cold. Once I took him in to his ped & got a note they were ok with admitting him back at daycare.

i hate to ask this but could it be a attention issue? you say that a new baby is on the way and maybe she is feeling insecure because of all the change. my ds has gone thru bouts where he does it and he can do it on purpose. maybe she knows if she gets sick you get to come and get her and she gets to be with you, which very soon it wont be just you and her there will also be the baby. it is just an idea, and please dont take offense, i hope you find out what is going on :)

btw there is noting "bad" going on at daycare that may be upsetting her is there?

First of all, Sorry!

We went through a similar stage after Jude was really sick. I honestly think he was overeatting and after weeks (yes weeks) of a flu his little stomach could not handle it. It always happened right after a meal. It happened at home, on the road and in restaurants too. Afterwards he was happy as could be! It was not pretty. I tried to regulate his intake, but he shoveled it in. I think he and his stomach learned.

I admit, it was a tough 2-3 weeks to learn.

Do you notice a pattern? Is it shortly after meals? Was she recently sick?

How old is she??? Is it just once or several times in a row? Are they overfeeding her? Is she getting so upset she throws up?

My dd had GERD, and sometimes for no special reason she'll just puke during/right after eating. No big deal. It is weird but not a cause for alarm. She is fine before and after. I would get a note from your doctor, unless it is repeated vomiting.
