Is anybody as completely creeped out by these weirdo characters as I am?? We Googled it and it's apparently Japanese with the intent of 'representing different personalities'. Um, OK. If that's what they're trying to interpret, maybe I need to be like Bill and inhale. :P
I just saw a glass of some sort of juice consume itself so it could 'play' music.
Good grief!

I haven't seen that one yet. I'll have to look for it.
We've had Singing Time on here 24/7 lately. I'm getting a little tired of Rachel.

They are super weird! I really don't like them at all. I'm just glad we have that 30 min of Move to the Music DVRed so when things like that come on I can flip over to songs!

I haven't seen this one on Noggin, apparently we're lucky here and don't turn it on early enough to see this. ;) What time does this oddity come on?
Maisy is something my husband will flip as quickly as he can if it comes on though. He can't stand it. I'm not honestly sure I've seen even part of it more than once, because if I put Noggin on, I don't usually put it on early enough to catch it. And I was getting ready at the time too, so I definitely wasn't paying any attention to it.

What is it exactly that creeps you out? I had read that they were intended to help teach children about diversity and tolerance and since my ds has been exposed to racism at the ripe ol' age of three, I was hoping to see them and often. Actually, it would be his classmates from his former preschool that would need to see them and often. When are they on Noggin?

No set time for the freaks. They come on between shows, mixed in with that stupid Art Alive.
*sigh*
Can you tell I watch more Noggin than I should?

Ida-
I don't even get the mildest hint of tolerance or diversity from them. They are these strange cartoon characters that each do some sort of trick.
If I, at 34 (almost 35) don't get that vibe off of them, then how can my 2-1/2yo? I would have never known that's what they were all about if it wasn't for Googling them. It's that abstract. I completely support and encourage embracing diversity and tolerance. In fact, I strive to expose my children to all different kinds of people and experiences. However, I think that these characters are a little weak - and a strange vehicle - in bringing that message across. Maybe it's all lost in the obvious translation from Japanese to English. Kind of like the Hello Kitty phenomenon. From what I understand it's HUGE in Japan - even with grown women. I have a relative that lives overseas and he said that it's even common for women our age to have Hello Kitty golf clubs! I don't know - I just don't get it.
As I mentioned to Melissa above, there's no set time for DBF to be on. It's aired in between regularly scheduled programs on Noggin.
That REALLY sucks about your Son's classmates. The sad thing is, those preschoolers really aren't the ones to blame as much as their parents.

I haven't seen it, but what's up with these weird kids shows nowadays? Just because our kids are young doesn't mean they don't have standards! :(
The one show on Noggin that I can't stand is Oobi. I can't get over that the talking feet,...that's just gross!

Haven't seen any talking feet on Oobi, but I'll admit that I don't always pay attention if it's on either. All I've ever seen is the talking hands. Taran absolutely adores Oobi though. :)
I, on the other hand, can't seem to get the song out of my head if he's watched it that day...

Yeah, I've seen the talking feet once or twice. I really don't like Oobi either. Unfortunately, Sophie seems to really like it. Figures, huh? Boobah, Teletubbies and Barney are completely banned from this house for that reason. :P
I'm not so freaked by the hands, but the fact that they don't speak in full sentences. Oobi is supposed to be four years old. Um, most 4yos I know can speak in full sentences. From speaking to other Mommies, their kids tend to regress after watching the show and start speaking like the freaky hands!
I miss Captain Kangaroo :(

Oh yeah. Caillou. Ick.
One show that's new to us (and I love) is Msggie and the Ferocious Beast. It's wonderful!

Maggie and Beast is new for us too...and it is rapidly sinking to my banned list- which includes Boobah, and Caliou. I kind of like the Teletubbies though. I keep getting confused about which one is Maisy and which one is Miffy!! LOL I will be soooo glad when I am back in good health so we can watch less tv!

Maisy is the brightly coloured cartoon mouse where they all make gutteral noises instead of words.
Miffy is the claymation bunny with stumps instead of hands and feet and doesn't speak (there's a narrator that does instead).
Both have reasons for being annoying.

It just seems like another stupid cartoon to me....but that's just me...I hate almost ALL cartoons. Even as a child I never really like cartoons. Knowing my luck I'll get a hyper-obsessive cartoon-watcher. :D
If the girl with the button eyes doesn't freak the children out (reminds me of a Tim Burton zombie), I think the crazy tubby loaf and his pet dog "Moo" would weird the crap out of everyone else.
How pointless. I guess I saw a little bit of the share/anti-bias stuff, but I have a college degree. Most 5 year olds can't tell you why the Little Mermaid lost her voice.
Nuff said, I don't even think I subscribe to the Noggin channel (I just googled it, too).

"Most 5 year olds can't tell you why the Little Mermaid lost her voice."
OK, now I have to take exception to this! At 3, my granddaughter could have told you why, and everything else about The Little Mermaid! LOL
Sorry, back to the topic. I watch Noggin a lot (with said granddaughter) but have been lucky enough to have not seen this weird show. Of course, now I want to see it, to see what you're talking about *sigh* !
