I so don't know what to look for in a lunch box and just now this second ordered the LL Bean critter back pack for Reichen and saw the matching lunch box...

Anyone know if this is a good purchase or can share what I should consider in lunch boxes????

the back pack was very good size but i didnt see the lunch bag/box. i ordered it for my neighbor as she doesnt have a computer. the prints are super cute. she got the blue animal track one and the pink one with flowers on it i think. she liked the idea that her ds would have a matching lunch box and bag for 1st grade. sorry that i cant help more :)

Neve,

I ordered the blue penguin backpack and lunchbox for Katherine on Sunday night. I should be getting it by the end of this week (at least I hope so - school starts next Monday! She's starting 3rd grade -sniff, sniff, my baby is growing up).

I ordered the following lunchbox about 2 years ago for Katherine, but DH now uses it for his lunches. We have a different pattern than those available now.

We really like it. It keeps things insulated and cleans up easily too. I prefer insulated lunch boxes over metal or plastic ones so that things like sandwiches and drinks stay cold. You can also pack one of those ice packs if something needs to stay really cold.

Which critter backpack and lunchbox did you order? I hope that you like them!

I have this lunch box-I like it, we use it to pack lunch for the pool etc. It is pretty big, I can get lunch for both of us in there, but not heavy. It's very cute, cleans up well and is insulated. I'm no expert, but think it's a fine lunch box.

We don't have the critter lunch box but both DH and DS have LL Bean lunch boxes. We have been pretty happy with them (although Matthew ditched his for a Thomas the Tank one!). I recommend them highly. :)

We have this one and I am actually going to get a couple of the LE ones this year instead. This one is a bit on the smaller side once you pack everything in, particularly if you put the sandwich in a Tupperware-type keeper. It also does not hook onto the backpack or have strap, which the LE one does (both). I'm going to get this one:
