My mom still does stockings for all of the "kids" in our family (yep, at 32, I'm still one of the kids ;) ). She loves doing them and goes all out. She asked me what I want in my stocking this year, and I've been drawing a blank. Can you think of anything that you would want in YOUR stocking, with the constraints that it can't be totally extravagant (I would guess she spends about $100 for everything put in the stocking), she won't be able to order it online at this late notice and it must fit in good-sized adult stocking?
TIA!

I would love a $50 gift card to Starbucks(I love their Passion Iced tea) and a $50 mall gift card to spend wherever I wanted!!!

I love getting luxurious hand cream, cuticle cream, etc. Last year I asked DH to get me eye cream and night cream, too :-) I don't think it's so much a preoccupation with so-called beauty as the idea that I spend $ on DS rather than on myself so if it comes in my stocking, I don't feel guilty!
What about a great frame for a photo of DC? How about a gift card to VS?
Now I am eager to see what everyone else says!

A gift card would be nice (starbucks, sephora, iTunes, borders, a restaurant). I would also like some nice hair barrettes, cozy socks, my favorite perfume or bath wash...hmmm...what else? Oh, definitely some candy! My mom always gets some of my childhood favorites, which is fun! Throw in a bottle or two of OPI polish and I would be set!!
Hope you get some good stuff! :)

Sounds silly, but I *love* the "spoonulas" (silicone spatula-like contraptions) at Williams Sonoma. I like the small ones the best. I own three of those and one of the large ones--they make me happy when I'm cooking! :)
I also love Frederic Fekkai baby blonde shampoo and conditioner--pricey, but smells heavenly (which is why I use Dove most of the time ;)).

At Thanksgiving, my mom gave me some really great peppermint foot scrub and foot cream from Arbonne. I would never have thought of it, and I love it! Also, Bath and Body Works and Origins both make some very nice sugar body scrubs -- at least it's not the same old lotion thing, KWIM?

My sister and I always do our parents' stockings. The best gift I got for my mom was an engraved business card holder. It was very timely because she had a trip to Japan not long after and business cards are a big deal there. If you use business cards, that would be a nice gift. Some of them are quite lovely: enameled, engraved, etc.

Hmm.
Necklace
Makeup/Lipstick
Lotion
Tea - Love Kalahari Earl of Africa and Tazo Zen, Joy and Earl Grey
CDs
Cinderella DVD
Books
Trouser socks
Peppermint Bark
Gloves
Stationery/Notecards
I wouldn't really want these this year, but they do fit in stocking:
Wallet
Key ring
Earmuffs/Hat/Scarf

Oooh...there is this new hand cream from Bath & Body Works made by Jaqua that is scented like Buttercream Frosting. It is to die for. I want to eat my hands!!!! I would LOVE a HUGE tube of it!!!

In my family we do the traditional stockings and they are stuffed with HUGE fruits, nuts and chocolates. And then a few smaller gifts.
I'd love to get gift cards to the movie theater, hand lotion, spices (I love Penzey's!), rubber bands for my hair, nail polish, fine point Sharpies in all the colors, note cards, tea, any kind of little toy or joke book, I could go on and on! :)

My mom and dad still do this too. :)
My ideas:
Borders gift card (I can never have enough books!)
Body Shop Coconut Body Butter
Cushy socks
Inexpensive, pretty earrings
There are also lots of fun little games and puzzles and things that I saw when I was at Barnes & Noble, and I think any of those would be fun for a stocking.

Believe it or not, one of our good friends owns the company that produces that lotion. It was really fun to see him try to work out the perfect scent. About 10 years ago, he decided to get out of the traditional business world and go into making soaps and lotions. It's so fun to hear about others appreciating his stuff :)

I totally get your fondness for the spoonula. I am at the point where I have tossed all spatulas, except for the ones from Williams-Sonoma. They hold up so well to heat, and the colors make me very happy. And I don't have any spoonulas, yet. It's going on the list... :)

Very good point! My elbows and knees are an embarrassing desert wonder, so some scrubs would be very helpful.

That would be radically better than the method of sticking them randomly in my purse and letting them get all dingy, leaving me with only one card that is all dog-eared and tattered to give to people when I need to do so.
Yep, going on the list...

I really do need some notecards. I love those really thick correspondence cards, and right now all I have are Target specials. While I rather like my Target specials, for a more sophisticated look, some better stationary would be really nice. On the list...

Definitely adding to the list the fine point Sharpies (with the nail polish and note cards, of course). What a fabulous idea! Talk about something I always seem to need and never seem to remember. Thanks for suggesting that!

I love that you suggest the "cushy" socks. There is a distinction, and I totally agree that the cushy ones are much better. I was just mocked the other day by some friends who popped by and noted the mismatched (but cushy!) socks I was sporting. I tried to explain that I was doing my own version of the Trumpette Cheeritoes, but they weren't buying my goods. Great call on adding those... :)

My mom really should own stock in Starbucks the way that she supports that place. A gift certificate there would totally be up her alley... and really helpful for me, since I can't seem to order anything less than $4.30 nowadays. :)

I don't have any really good hand cream right now and totally need it. It's fun to have something luxurious like that. And cuticle cream is totally important and I NEVER think about it. On the list...

I used to get the frappacinos and blended drinks. Way too many calories for me!!! I switched to their ice tea drinks (the passion tea is wonderful) and have actually lost weight! AND, they only cost around $2.00!!! Once in a great while, like the holidays, I will get something sinful like a gingerbread latte. Yum! But, last time I got one, a grande, it was something like $4!!

I can never have enough lip gloss/lip balm. Gift cards are also nice. I also like to get CD's since I hardly buy those for myself anymore. A photo key chain is also nice.

JC Penney's Socks to Stay at Home In. These things ROCK. My mom got them for sis and I years ago and the socks get better every year. Other stores have tried to imitate them, but I haven't found any as good as JC Penneys!

I think that is a very nice tradition.
If I could stuff my own stocking...
toothbrush
lip stuff
socks
candles
candy
earrings
book
Green Mountain coffee beans
hair clips
