The ILs have 5-6 timeshares and would like to sell several of them. Are there any tips on how to sell them? We don't own any so we really don't know much about buying/selling them.

TIA!

I know that there are many timeshare resale agencies - we looked at a few when we were considering the Disney Vacation Club. Have you tried an online search?

Whatever your ILs do, make sure that they don't advertise with any agency that charges an up-front fee. These places are scams. They will take your money, tell you that you can get way more for your timeshare than you really can, and then do nothing to try to sell it. The reputable places only charge a commission AFTER it sells (like selling a house).

Also, if they aren't already aware, timeshares re-sell for a lot less than developer prices. There are tons of inexpensive timeshares out there for sale, and they will probably take a loss unless they originally bought them resale.

A great place to get info on selling (and buying) timeshares is the Timeshare Users Group (www.tug2.net).

we are looking to buy through a reseller and have contacted Sell Max (which is GMAC). You can also see if the developer will "resell" the timeshare.

Ebay is another option.

Thanks for the tips. This is all new to me but we'll definitely go with someone that doesn't charge any fees upfront.
