My OB recently switched me over from pre-natals to Flintstones, so I might actually keep them down. :) Now, Flintstones vitamins come in 5 different varieties. I chose Flintstones Complete, it seemed to have the best combination of vitamins, and 100% folic acid. The Complete's contain Aspertame, though, something I never consumed before pregnancy, and am not about to consume now. What did you all take, if you had to switch to Flintstones?

I took the regular flintstones chewables twice a day. I don't even remember seeing different kinds! I'm sorry you're so sick! I had HG so I sympathize! Eventually I scrapped the prenatals all together. The folic acid isn't really necessary once you're in your second tri (which you are) and if you're not struggling with iron deficiency or anemia, I wouldn't bother. You can drink nutrition beverages (like Boost or Ensure) and it will pick up the slack for the lack of a multivitamin....that's assuming you can keep those down....:-(

I hope you feel better soon....let me know if you want any other advice on how to stop puking!!!! i've got all kinds of tricks ; )

Oh, Megs, thank you! I had severe HG with Luke, but this pregnancy really quite minor compared to that. :) I was just feeling fustrated that I treked out to the pharmacy to pick up vites for myself, got all the way home, and then realized they contained Aspertame. I'll have to check into the other variations. They've got to have one with out it!

I take the regular Flintstones, plus a folic acid supplement. The folic acid is tiny and didn't cause any problems for me when I was so sick with morning sickness. I threw up my Flintstones vitamin a few time, but it didn't cause nearly the problems my prenatal was causing.

I'm avoiding artificial sweeteners, but I don't feel that the tiny amount in the vitamin is worth worrying about. You could check out Whole Foods or another natural food store for a natural variety of children's chewables.

Kaya takes the rainbow light ones too, for the same reason--no artificial sweeteners. Unfortunately, we can't get her to take them regularly (she thinks they are like candy, which she doesn't like), but we are still trying. :P

Kelli, I had no idea you were an HGer!!!! Are you also on the HER site?

I,too, had severe HG with Maddie and we're TTC. SO, I'm getting ready for the rain!

Yep, fellow HGer here! :) I had it in 2002-3 while preggers with Luke, and while I had found the BBB website, I didn't manage to stumble across the HER site. (I didn't spend as much time surfing then, either...) I am absoluetly thrilled that this pregnancy I've just had normal morning sickness. I have lost 12 pounds, but mainly from naseau/food adversions, not strictly from vomiting like before. And, now that I'm 14w, even that seems to be lessening. Yippee! I hope that your next pregnancy will be easier as well. I almost replyed to the "are you scared to get pregnant" thread, but I really didn't even know where to start. ;)

Boy are you lucky it's not as bad this time. My HG was so much worse with Linnea that I wound up in the hospital. My doctor told me that it gets worse with each successive pregnancy and with age. We knew that my body just couldn't handle another pregnancy so I ended up having a tubal done even though we want more kids. Both times I had it from the moment I got pregnant (seriously I got morning sickness about 4 days post ovulation) until I delivered. It's nice to know I'm not the only one who has suffered.

ETA: I was going to reply to the scared to get pregnant thread too, but I figured all I had to say were scary things about how horrible pregnancy is.

Oh, Jessica, I'm so sorry! I tried to do a little research about it before TTC again, and most of what I read said that being pregnant for the first time was a "risk factor", and that there was no gaurentee that I would get it again. That's what my doctor had said, but I didn't believe it until now. I was in and out of the hospital with Luke all the time. Mainly for IV fluids & meds, when my usual meds weren't working, but also overnight a time or two, to get things under control. I don't think most people have the fear of getting pregnant again that experienced HGErs do. :(

I also can't imagine being sick while having a little one already. I had to quit working while pregnant before, but wasn't put on bedrest or anything. All I had to do was lay around the house and feel sick. Good thoughts heading your way!

I'm so glad it's going so much better for you this time around. With Amelia, I was told that it might be a fluke and wouldn't necessarily happen again. So I was hopeful that the next time would be better. It was so much worse that sometimes I just wanted to curl up and die. I still wonder if we did the right thing getting the tubal and am really sad about not having any more kids of our own. It's something I struggle with every day. When my husband is done with residency, we are hoping to adopt.
