I miss Rashmi and Anna! They don't know me from Adam but when I joined BBB they were both really active and I always loved reading their posts (lots of good info) :-). Rashmi's "girlie" posts always made me happy! And Anna was from my state. I tried to e-mail Anna but I don't think she received it. If you're out there... give a shout... You're missed ;-)

Anyone else missing someone?

I miss them too. Lots of good people have come and gone over the years, unfortunately.

Yes, I miss them too. And Trish (brigmaman) and Jen (kensjen). They were my cloth diaper gurus when I first started hanging out here. And I miss Neve. I always enjoyed her posts and she seemed like an amazing mama. Of course, none of these mamas know me from Adam either but I miss their presence here.

I am missing many, many people, some of whom I liked, some of whom I had merely met, some of whom I respected, some of whom I liked for variety's sake. I met people at the retreat last year who are rarely here now, and I feel that even more people have left in the last 3 months or so. I recognized it, but attributed it to people's jobs, people's expanding families, a few to board dramas. But in the last week and with the most recent sorry tales, I just feel like the sense of community on BBB, as well as the members of the community, have changed permanently.

Maybe I am wrong. Maybe those who have more time to spend on the boards now will later get busy and need to leave, maybe those who currently have little need for the board will face new parenting challenges and will come here for those discussions.

But if you've been pretty inactive lately, and we know each other from the retreat or real life or long-time posting, then it's a good bet I've noticed your absence. It's not as interesting here without you.

I sort of have a gut feeling it's because of the more negative threads. I hate that too! But I think there are so many threads here that aren't negative or dramatic :-)! And there are lots of posters who don't participate in those threads, couldn't care less (okay maybe we read them for fun ;-)) and we wish it didn't make great long time members leave. We still have so much to learn from you! So, come back!

Jenny :-)

I'm going to have to say that I've been spnding less time here then in past months. It does seem that the recent (read, past month) negativity hasn't helped much. Hopefully it'll pass and everyone (or maybe some new cool faces) will come back.

Hi Jenny, Since you have not been around in a while why don't you tell those of us who have not "met" you a little about yourself?

Sure! I have daughter, Caroline, who's 8 months old and now proudly sporting her first new tooth (she got it yesterday :-)). Happily married for 5 years. I did work before DD was born but I now stay at home with her and am enjoying that.

A friend gave me her copy of Baby Bargains when my husband and I started trying to have a baby. I wanted a baby so badly and just wanted to plan, plan, plan so I'd be ready when we finally got pregnant. I happened upon the message board and LOVED all the information. I had never heard of Haba toys, hotslings, Kecci bags, or any of the other great unique baby products I was introduced to here. I don't post a whole lot. I really just enjoy reading although I always log on and try not to just lurk. I'm starting to post more now because I've been here long enough and am more comfortable.

I miss Rashmi, Neve, Maureen, Jen (kensjen) to name a few. None of them knew me, but I looked forward to their posts. I figured with all of the turmoil lately that was why they had gone. :(

Honestly, I seem to miss all the stuff you guys are talking about. The recent PSA stuff aside, I don't recall seeing anything negative here - am I totally living under a rock? I must be - but maybe that's a good thing in this case. Oh well.

But I miss some ladies terribly, Rashmi was such a stitch, & Maureen, & Neve to name a few.

I miss all of them too. And parkersmama (Denise). I still pop in here from time to time in hopes of seeing some of them but I haven't. My youngest just turned 3 so I'm sorta "outgrowing" this place but yet it feels weird to stop coming here. I've been here for so long!

Hey Julie! Thanks for the shoutout :D. I'm still around, occasionally. DH and I picked up our family and moved a few states over this Summer. When I do have time, I'm usually overwhelmed at the number of posts there are. As well as the huge number of new members. And then when I have a question, I use the handy dandy search function and it's generally answered!

But I'm grateful for these boards. I've made some lifelong friends and have enjoyed corresponding with them via email, chat, etc. (one of them gave me the heads up I was being paged ;) ) We've even gotten together a few times (I met up with a few close friends this summer and we got to meet THE Alan and Denise - exciting!).

Thanks for thinking of me. If you're ever in the Mountain Timezone area, email me!

So many oldtimers are gone, but I confess these boards are still addictive to me. I still learn from everyone daily, and especially love the bargains posted. I save/spend so much due to that area!

I have been active here for almost 4 years, and still check it daily. This thread brought up a lot of old names! One name escapes me and it is driving me nuts! I'll never forget Rashmi's beautiful works of art, Neve's birth story of her daugther, the reason for the candles on many posts etc. I feel like we have all been around the block together!

There are ups and downs, and I am sorry we have lost people over time. This is a great place for "real" parenting information.

Love it!
Jen

Funny you posted this..I was wondering about someone...
i think her name was Jude..mom to rory-monster...she would always offer an honest opinion...

Over the years, I've been involved in lots of different message boards...a band I loved, teaching boards (i'm a first grade teacher), rubber stamping boards, diet boards, and now here. I think as life goes on, one evolves. To me this is so different though...my interests in some of the other topics faded, but I don't see my interest in my DD fading anytime soon! :)

There are so many I can't begin to put them all down or I will look like a freak. (I started a list and it was really long.)

It is depressing that there are so many mia members that had thousands of posts, that were funny, witty, smart women. I feel like they are friends that I haven't talked to in ages!

Everytime I do a search to update one of the kid's memory books I get so sad. :( Can't say I blame them much, this eats up a lot of time and the drama has to steer some away. Many stopped posting after they had #2, or when they moved.

Big hugs to anyone who hasn't been mentioned, I betcha I am thinking of you right now!! http://goldismoney.info/forums/images/smilies/wavey.gif

There are a bunch of posters that I miss too, papal being one of them. That being said, there are a bunch of new members that I really do enjoy reading their posts, such as Fairy and Punkrockmama. And then there are some newer members that I truly adore: jkyzer, radosti, and megs to name a few. The BBB wouldn't be the same w/o them.

So while things change, circumstances change, and (to quote one of my fav songs) children get older, members will come and go (myself included *one* of these days lol).

I guess I got a little tired of reading the all somewhat sad posts here and just wanted to say that while I know the BBB isn't what is *used* to be, I for one still really enjoy coming here, with all the members that we still do have, and I truly enjoy the dynamics of our community.

ITA! I have been reading these boards for over 4 years...so I have seen many folks come and go. Even though some members have moved on, we have a bunch of new faces that are now regulars and bring just as much humor and spunk to the boards. I doesn't get me down when folks leave...we still have a lot of mamas here that have great advice and good info to share.

Allison and Candice, you guys are too sweet to think of me! :) A friend told me I was being paged on the Lounge. LOL!

I pop on here occasionally but it gets harder and harder as the girls get older. Kathleen started kindergarten this fall, Ellen is 3 and in preschool, and Bridget just turned 1 last month, so my days are a little crazy.

I hope everyone and their babies are doing well!

You were one of the "regulars" when I first stumbled upon the boards and loved seeing pics of her and that awesome hair!

I agree. I miss some of the posters that have left, but I think that a lot of new posters fit in really well. & honestly, I think that in a lot of ways some of the new posters have brought out a kinder, gentler BBB - despite some of the other stuff that has been going on.
