View Full Version : how do you display your child's art?
I'm looking for ideas to hang the girls' art - I saw something once where you hang a wire (or a ribbon) horizontally along the wall, and use clips to hang art to the wire, and the art can be changed in a snap. Any thoughts on how to do this or where to buy something like this?

IKEA has a curtain wire that would be perfect: http://tinyurl.com/3dsf3a

I took regular string, nailed it on two ends (by making a knot), and use laundry clips to clip my DS' artwork onto it in his room.

We bought a very long decorative curtain rod and hung it in our upstairs hall. Then I put drapery clips on the rod and the kids rotate out their art as new things come in. I've gotten a ton of compliments on it, and I love that it keeps the art in view but out of my way.
BTW, I hung it just high enough so the kids can barely reach the clips, but that it is still in eyesight's view for adults.
This is kinda cute too

I like this idea.
I've seen something similar where you take a piece of wood, normally decorative like around a door frame, paint it white and screw clips to it. I've been wanting to do that, but haven't gotten around to it. The curtain rod though, is much easier..just buy and hang, no assembling, but granted painting and screwing clips doesn't take much!

PBK has one on sale right now:
I used a six pack of the very small command hooks and hung string so I have three rows to hang pictures from.
I got gold binder clips from OfficeMax. The only problem is that the binder clips are a bit heavy and when the paper is regular paper (not construction paper) the binder clips tend to slide down the string toward the middle, causing the picture to fold in on itself (not sure this makes sense as written). I'm thinking of getting some mini clothespins (hopefully Michaels has some) and see if they work better.

We have these from Land of Nod. The bird one is adorable.

I read about this idea on an old post in BBB. I needed a wall of artwork for our family room, so I have lots of frames around the girls' pictures with no glass over them and just the wall as a border. See the photo below. To do this, I painted unfinished wood frames from Michael's to match our trim, then went to a glass store and got plexiglass (because it was lighter) cut to fit the back of the frame so I can tape and un-tape artwork without damaging the wall behind. THe frames hang from a sawtooth hanger nailed into the back and at the glass store, I bought these arrow-shaped things called "points" to keep the glass in place.
I got the frames on sale at Michael's, and the whole project, including plexiglass and hardware, cost about $50. The only downsides are the pictures don't lay completely flat and there is some shadowing behind the frames, particularly with overhead lights.
Huh, I'm not seeing any option to attach a photo even though I'm sure I've seen attached photos quite recently. Email me if you want a photo.
