Does anyone know how long the most common viruses can live on surfaces? And is there a difference, for example, will a virus survive longer on a doorknob than a dry hand towel? i"m sure some viruses survive longer than others, just wondering about the most common.
I realize this is gross, but I know the hanta virus is on mouse turds. Well, I found some that are from a long time ago (I assume) and am curious how long that virus can survive on a dried up mouse turd. Do I really need to spray the whole area with disinfectant, wear gloves and a mask to wipe it up or can I just go after it with a vacuum cleaner?
Hope this isn't TMI but I figure most of you have dealt with things just as gross (if not more) than dry mouse turds ;).
