Once again, thank you so much for your outpouring of support. I had my husband read through this thread, and he was amazed and touched by all of your responses. We take comfort in knowing that our precious baby is being prayed for across the country, and we're putting our trust in God right now.
I wanted to post an update today of the news we've received (no need for you to respond--just wanted to let you know what's going on). Unfortunately, it's some bad news once again as we continue on this emotional roller coaster. Ezra was diagonosed today as having T-lymphoblastic lymphoma with CNS (Central Nervous System) disease, and we were told the cancer has definitely spread to his kidneys.
The most alarming news for me was hearing that there are cancer cells in his spinal fluid (the CNS disease part) and that he will need radiation to treat the fluid around his brain, which has cancer. The oncologist said they would want to wait until he's 36 months old, though, to do the radiation.
So, we're being told that he should still make a complete recovery but the oncologist estimated about 18 months of chemotherapy and the radiation, and the radiation could come with side effects.
Many of you asked in the other thread about how you could help--thank you so much for your thoughtfulness in asking that. However, we live in Colorado, so we're not near any of the cities that were mentioned. So, I think your prayers and words of encouragement or advice (or helpful links) are what we need right now. Some of you asked about relatives helping--my mom is staying at our home this week, so she's taking care of our 4-year-old. We will have to figure something out when she leaves, though, because I was told that I won't be allowed to bring him with me to Ezra's appointments at the cancer clinic. But, right now we're just taking one day at a time.
Thanks again for your support. Although I haven't been as active on these boards recently as I used to be, this is truly an amazing community and I feel blessed to be a part of it.
