Once again, thank you so much for your outpouring of support. I had my husband read through this thread, and he was amazed and touched by all of your responses. We take comfort in knowing that our precious baby is being prayed for across the country, and we're putting our trust in God right now.

I wanted to post an update today of the news we've received (no need for you to respond--just wanted to let you know what's going on). Unfortunately, it's some bad news once again as we continue on this emotional roller coaster. Ezra was diagonosed today as having T-lymphoblastic lymphoma with CNS (Central Nervous System) disease, and we were told the cancer has definitely spread to his kidneys.

The most alarming news for me was hearing that there are cancer cells in his spinal fluid (the CNS disease part) and that he will need radiation to treat the fluid around his brain, which has cancer. The oncologist said they would want to wait until he's 36 months old, though, to do the radiation.

So, we're being told that he should still make a complete recovery but the oncologist estimated about 18 months of chemotherapy and the radiation, and the radiation could come with side effects.

Many of you asked in the other thread about how you could help--thank you so much for your thoughtfulness in asking that. However, we live in Colorado, so we're not near any of the cities that were mentioned. So, I think your prayers and words of encouragement or advice (or helpful links) are what we need right now. Some of you asked about relatives helping--my mom is staying at our home this week, so she's taking care of our 4-year-old. We will have to figure something out when she leaves, though, because I was told that I won't be allowed to bring him with me to Ezra's appointments at the cancer clinic. But, right now we're just taking one day at a time.

Thanks again for your support. Although I haven't been as active on these boards recently as I used to be, this is truly an amazing community and I feel blessed to be a part of it.

I hope you are able to work things out. Do you belong to a church or temple that could help?

I can't even begin to imagine what this is like for you. It is great to know that the doctors believe he will make a complete recovery but I'm sure still so difficult to know the long road ahead of him.

Little Ezra and all of your family will remain in my thoughts and prayers.

I know that Memphis probably seems like it's a million miles away, but if you do decide to seek treatment outside of Colorado, please consider St. Jude's. My sister is a nurse there (dealing with solid tumors) and I have no doubt that there's no better place to treat pediatric cancer than that hospital.

I also wanted to second the recommendation for CURE Childhood Cancer - they're an incredible support organization for the entire family.

We are thinking of you and praying for you all.

I also live in Colorado (Northern Colorado). Please email or PM me. I know you don't know me, but I am a stay at home mom with a dd 9/04 and ds 11/06, who would love to play with your 4 year old if you need someone to help watch him when your mom leaves. I don't know where in CO you live, but if it is anywhere near us we would really like to help out.

Your family continues to be in my thoughts and prayers. You might consider joining one of ACOR's online support groups. The link below will take you to ACOR's mailing lists for pediatric cancer. You might want to join the general PED-ONC group as well as one more specific to Ezra's cancer. I've found my group to be an amazing source of information and support.

Wishing strength and healing for Ezra and your whole family.

I am so sorry to read about the setback. However, it was reassuring to read that the doctors think that he should make a complete recovery. PLEASE know that little Ezra and your family continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. If there is anything that I can do, PLEASE let me know.

I have and will continue to pray for you and your family! I'm sure Ezra is a fighter and it's great news that the docs expect a full recovery! Not to get too personal, but what caused you to have the initial testing run on Ezra? I'm asking because my DS is 2 months older than yours and he has had several jellybean-size lumps in the back of his neck and at the base of his head. He doesn't complain about them and our pediatrician said they're probably just swollen glands, but they've been there for over a month. Hopefully I'm just being paranoid, but your story got me thinking. Again, sending positive thoughts and prayers that the next 18+ months go smoothly and that Ezra recovers happy and healthier than ever!!!
