Well another week of not much here. I did get in two cardio workouts with the elliptical. DH finished his rotation in labor and delivery this past saturday so now he's on a more normal schedule, which means I should be able to get some more workouts in.

Here's a bit of a rant, feel free to skip this part ;)

Sooo I've been having pelvic pain issues since my delivery of DD. I've been getting pt for the various issues. My pt advised me to quit all abdominal work a while ago. I've had some pain in my running too, so now I am coming to realize that I think I'll have to give that up. I've had some pain once when I've did the elliptical. Also pain with inner thigh weighted exercises. Sigh... I"m nervous that she's gonna have me stop my workouts, but so far she hasn't said anything so I'm plugging on. I"m just a little frustrated, you know how your body isn't your own pg, well I'm 7 months postpartum and I'm still not back to normal, sigh. Anyway rant over.

How are you :)

Julie - that sucks about the pain! Are you not even supposed to "activate your transverse abdominus"? That's the action that I think helped me out so much after my c/s and appendectomy wrecked my abs, and it's not like it's strenuous at all, it just strengthens your muscles. Is there any chance a different PT or maybe a chiro would have a different plan for treatment? My chiro really amazes me - after I get adjusted, I can feel that things are back in alignment, and it helps get through when I do have a new (or resumed) ache or pain...

My week was so-so, too. I did a fair bit of walking, and am still eating pretty well. I'm trying to find a pre-natal fitness class of some sort, but there's nothing being offered over the summer. How dumb is that? I'm hoping to get some water aerobics classes into my schedule again, too...I haven't taken one in ages, and I feel like I should, y'know?

I was having pulling on the left side during some abdominal work so she said to quit all abdominal work as it was probably also affecting the pelvic area. I don't know what I think about my pt, she seems ok. I wish she'd explain things a little better. I have a follow up check up with my gyn next month. If things aren't better I'm gonna ask her where to go from here. My therapist is a specialist for women pelvic issues, there are very few, so I don't really have much to choose from.

Petra it sounds like you are really taking care of yourself in this pregnancy, way to go! That is weird about the prenatal classes!

You've had 2 c/s, right? I've only had the one, of course, but when we were packing up for the move to Canada, I remember stretching to reach under the kitchen table to grab a box from a seated position (confusing, no?), and something felt like it snapped. It hurt like crazy for about 30 seconds, and after that it felt better.

I wonder if your scar tissue is causing this pain, by being all bunched up and tight? I'd describe the feeling I have between my two ab scars as pulling, I think because the scar tissue doesn't have much stretch. You've got two scars in roughly the same spot - maybe they are fighting each other...hmmm.

Hopefully Marcy will chime in with her PT knowledge for you :)

Pretty good week. Did a combination of elliptical and running on the treadmill with some weight training. I'm trying to do more with free weight and less weight training machine.

Julie- sorry about the pain. It is frustrating when you're trying to exercise and injuries get in the way. Well, I'm 3 years post-partum and my abs are still not back to normal- so you're waaay ahead of me.

Going slowly at one more pound this week. I was hoping for 2 or 3 but then I'm not following my points very closely either.

Exercise is taking walks with DS #1 on his John Deere tractor and DS #2 in the stroller and going up and down the block. We do swim lessons twice a week to but none of this is very aerobic.

August is creeping up and I have to get a move on to win my families contest.

Last week did great with both points and exercise. This week not so much, at least with the points. Am doing ok with strength training, though I'm getting a bit bored, need to try a new routine and with aerobic (walking). Not feeling very motivated these days.

Hi everyone!

Sorry I'm so late to post this week, I've been busy getting ready for a good friend's wedding this weekend. Wedding #5!

Sounds like everyone is doing well and staying on the healthy track! Julie, I am sorry to hear about your pelvic pain. Yes, scar tissue is the first thing that came to mind. Your PT sounds very specialized and that specialty is hard to find. I'm wondering why she wants you to stop all abdominal work. If I were you, I'd ask her what she thinks about scar massage/soft tissue release over your incision. You may have some soft tissue that's bound down, causing your pain. As far as abdominals go, are you able to still practice sitting and blowing out a candle? That's a gentle way to exercise the transverse abdominus, which is the deepest of the abdominals and often the most overlooked. I'm curious to hear what she says...

I had some discomfort on the right side of my incision until about month 5 or so, and it acted up a bit, and finally went away around month 6. It was my second C-section too.

Ok, now for the exercise.....

Last week was great as far as workouts go. Unfortunately I'm eating like a pig and can't seem to control my appetite. Perhaps it's the workouts combined with the fact that I never sit down all day long, combined with the fact that I'm still nursing Julia 3x a day. As long as my weight is not going up I wont worry about it for now.

Workouts went like this:

Mon- bike 30 mins
Tues- Cathe Pyramid Lower Body
Wed - Bike and abs
Thurs - rest
Fri- rest
Sat - bike 25 mins
Sun - upper body workout and abs

This week is going good too! Yay :)
